    The safety they are talking about is probably a seat safety. If you shift your butt around on the seat, the mower cuts in and out. The design was made so that if you got off the seat the unit shut down. The older cubs were great machines, the newer ones not so much. The JD's are a better bet than Cub.

    My wife bought this for me for Fathers Day around '92 or '93 picture 015.jpg and I've kept it going all these years.
    Old but functional.

    Until you bypass it because getting up to move dog toys, kids toys sticks, open gates, and get a drink sucks.

    That's looks like the one I got this year. It's technically for hauling wood, stone, mulch etc but I can cut grass with it.

    You can do that , but we can't at the office , if something were to happen OSHA would be all over that like fly's on a chit pile .

    What I like the best about it (and you don't see anymore) is the big sticker on the back that says 'Made in USA'
    Same thing with my old Troybilt tiller.

    Most riders are still made in the USA (with china parts of course) MTD actually has a large manufacturing plant in NW ohio and they make many of the "cheaper" mowers regardless of which brand label or color it is

    Nope, MTD proudly slaps their Made in USA sticker on their tractors, for better or for worse. Deere assembles the D100 series machines in Greenville TN and I believe they are still putting the X-series units together in Horicon Wisconsin. Don't ask me where Husqvarna is assembling their stuff tho. I'm sure a quick Google search would dig it up tho.

    Yeah, I know about those safety seats; but I don't think it is what they meant. Sounded like something else. I told them to bring it back and let the dealer know. They said they just use the deere instead....??

    I don't think so. All I remember is that the woman of the house (large and in charge) (and loud) said she didn't like it because all you have to do is hit a little bump and the mower shuts off. If they spend that kind of $ on a product and then live with it instead of having it addressed, oh well.

    Who knows, maybe it is the seat safety switch but I don't think she is the kind of woman that would bounce off the seat enough for that safety to kick in!
