    I don’t know what it’s about, but I’m interested!

Just grabbed another truckload of nice, seasoned Lodge Pole pine for shoulder season.

Don’t forget about shoulder season, friends! I don’t want anyone to be uncomfortably chilly this fall!

SS wood for me has been mainly wood that I want to get rid of (chunks, punky). This year may be the first year I don’t have any as I burned the last of it in April and haven’t cut any since then. Ash and maple would be my shoulder wood I guess but they’ll get me through all but the coldest days here in Virginia and then I switch to oak. Also interesting to hear when SS starts for others. I usually don’t think about a fire until October. Late September is when I check the stove, firebrick, and alarms one final time.

The wheat harvest has begun here, that's the first hopeful sign of cooler weather.

No, the winter wheat that's planted in the fall. It ripens & drys down about mid July.

Oh gee, I thought wheat grew like timothy grass. This changes my whole perspective on the scale of patented wheat seed.
