Tell you what Dan, those LaCretes at $285/ton may just be one of the best deals going this season. Don't go telling Henry I said so, or he might raise the price and I don't need that guilt on my head! :)

Next time we vacation up there, I may need to bring the truck so I can come home with a larger haul than 3 bags of Olympus DF!

I have seen a second feed on startup. For me, maybe its due to a shorter feed cycle or more likely an old igniter.

That's one of the few good things that remains about the box stores; you can always find a way to get at least at 10% discount, relatively easily. You really lucked out, stumbling on those! That P43 is going to heat you out of your man cave this winter! Oh, and before I forget:

I started my stove this morning to take the chill off and I timed the startup process. 4 min. 10 sec. to ignition, 5 min. 20 sec. to distribution blower startup. 20 min. sounds like your igniter is very weak.

Thanks Sub. I gave the burn pot a thorough cleaning this evening. There was some carbon built up in the back / lower area that I had to use some serious elbow grease to get out. Also verified the burn pot holes are all clear, which they were - I have never seen them become blocked, to be honest. Also cleaned out the area beneath the burn pot (there was next to nothing in there anyway) and also removed the igniter assembly, inspected it, it was also quite clean. Will report back if anything changes when I light it later on. Maybe the carbon build-up was impeding the startup sequence? To your question, would it light more quickly if I pre-loaded the pot with a handful of pellets, I'm pretty sure it would - will confirm that during a near future light-up.

One thing I have always wanted to know, and you hit on it right here. Does an igniter go slowly over time, or does it just go bad all at once? If it goes slowly (loses it's effectiveness) over time, then that may be a very good lead is to why my startup is so slow.

When I have lost igniters they just went. No indication prior to failure.

the pellets you mention above are very good[when HD get's them.].
but many HD's get the usual crappy stuff like Nations choice, green supremes etc..
my HD had blazers last year.. 1 truckload and that was it..
