They aren't remote start they have a start button. You choke it and hit start to start it up in essence skipping the cord.
Please take a look at this one. Not electric start, but reviews say it is easy to start. Plus us that it us low visit and easy on electronics. How is Northern Tool to deal with? Here is another: http://www.powerequipmentplus.com/S...ct-ads~31865&gclid=CPe8hf_w0bsCFSISMwodEBkAdA
I have a 3500 watt Champion generator. Very easy to start. Also has a safety feature that will cut the engine if the voltage spikes. Go it for 250 plus 45 for a wheel kit. For what you want to run you could easily get a unit this size.....but if I were you I would het the 2000 or 3100 wary inverter they make...cost somewhere around 500 and 80)
You can get a device to clean up the sine wave, line conditioner/ filter . The UPS on my computer don' like my Honda. The TV & appliances work fine. I may just get a small 12 volt inverter for the computer Would like to replace it with the new solid state one , some day. Not many of the old style gens sets have a real clean sine wave. The new inverter ones are better (cleaner sine wave). I've looked at the Honda & Yamaha 2000 watt inverter ones for around $1100. Would do computer & TV a few lights, (or a pellet stove & a few lights) just 120 volt output.
I believe some of the Hondas have either an electric choke or an electric choke pull off. google Power Equipment Direct good site with lots of choices. Gary
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Champion...e-Powered-Portable-Generator-46565/203589538# Has remote start ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ " Equipped with integrated auto-choke for true one-touch starting " I like that! Ray
Check this one out: http://northerntool.com/mt/www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200617839_200617839
3 things I looked for when I bought a gen , automatic idle control, 240v receptacle, and an oil filter. Oh wait , also wheels
"With less than 5% harmonic distortion at full load, your Powerhorse generator ensures sensitive electronics are protected and function properly. Most other generators on the market have potentially harmful 20-30% harmonic distortion at full load." Like what I see here.. Good price too!
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200419022_200419022 This one seems to be ok. Doesn't chew up the gas, but will keep the pellet stove, lights, and frig ok. Also shouldn't mess up my bipap. I really appreciate you all for taking the time to help me with this. I had been avoiding getting a generator. Like insurance, cost a lot and you hope you never need it, but his last bought of no power was too darn cold. The wife was at her wits end. I went out today and got another k 1 heater, I also got another carbon monoxide detector, now have three of detectors. I'll stay in another area where I can open the window a crack. Once we get the generator, we shouldn't need or have much use for the portable heaters.
Also look at ,hours of run time @ 1/2 load, and gas tank size My 4000 watt gen ,W 4gal tank ,is rated to run 13 1/2 hours ,@ half load
I like that generator and was impressed with the distortion.. I was hesitant to get a genny for a long time and the blizzard last year was the last straw for me.. Lost power for 4 days and it sucked.. At least now I can take a shower and have water, run the fridge and freezer and furnace for hot water.. Even for a few hours it will be great to have some power.. Of course I'll never lose power again lol.. Keep us posted! Ray
