I am looking at a generator. Needs to have clean sine. I want to be able to run my pellet stove, my bipap machine, tv. Should be electric start. I know Honda has a good reputation, but that is out of my price range. Looking at something like this: http://t.homedepot.com/p/Generac-GP...Generator-with-Generator-Cord-6515/204330692/. Confused!
If you have natural gas you might want to consider this: http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/Generac-Guardian-6237-Standby-Generator/p10669.html If I had natural gas this would have been my choice.. Ray
I would forgo the electric start.....those are usually on much larger generators than what you need. I would go for the Champion 3100 watt inverter around $800 or the smaller 2000 for like $500. The Generac XP series I believe is the only non inverter that is under 5% that Generac sells Champion sells a small 3500 watt electric start conventional generator for around $500
I bought this one without the electric start.. Starts easily with one pull.. Not sure how electric start would work if generator is cold.. How would you choke it?? http://www.amazon.com/DuroMax-XP4400E-Portable-Generator-Electric/dp/B001BMDFPS Ray
Thanks Pete! Best part is I got it for $299.00 and free shipping! Haven't seen it at that price since.. Easy to assemble and never-flat tires are a bonus (came with wheel kit).. Pretty well made and quiet with a large automotive type muffler.. So far so good! Will run it again soon as I run it every 4 weeks and keep Stabil in the fuel.. Reviews are pretty good if you read them in the link I posted.. Ray
I was eyeballing a black version without the wheels a while back but it was just to big for what we need. Still if it comes up at $299 again it will be in my driveway.
They also make a red version called Durostar.. Same generator.. http://www.rakuten.com/prod/durosta...-generator/232343499.html?listingId=221350162
http://www.rakuten.com/prod/3500-4000-watt-portable-generator-w-wheel-kit/245783790.html A very good deal but looks like it doesn't have the 120/240 outlet?
I normally would run a regular generator without worry...however, in this case the OP wants to run a CPAP of the genny. My only recomemdation would be an inverter generator through a "pure" sine wave UPS, the UPS would be needed in the event the genny ran out if gas it would switch to battery without damaging the CPAP. A new machine is thousands of dollars......
For those of us with Sleep Apnea. Basically a mask that forces air into you while you sleep. Your throat muscles relax, causing snoring and lack of oxygen.
I've got this one Save. Mine isn't the electric start model but it's been pretty reliable so far. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004U91WYU...e=asn&creative=395097&creativeASIN=B004U91WYU
Thanks for the suggestions. I am taking a hard look at them. The pellet stove is just as sensitive as the cpap. Need pure sine wave. The one I saw at HD had that capacity, but was not electric start. With my arthritis, I find any repetitious pulling very painful. I found one affordable unit that had a remote start, but it didn't say it was ok for electronics. I found they will say that when they are ok for them.
Still wondering how you can remote start a cold genny without going outside to choke the engine.. Know what I mean?
