I dislike shopping although I do like to wander thru Home Depot and TSC just to see if there is anything I can't live without. Yesterday my deliberate Black Friday shopping consisted of going to the local TSC (<5 miles away) and getting cat litter since it was on sale for $5 off a bucket. I only got 2 buckets, should have gotten more but decided not to be greedy. On the way home I stopped for batteries at Shaw's (they were pretty empty) and went right next door to Aubuchon's for bathtub caulk.

I know a gal who starts the day like at 3am with her sisters and goes everywhere from Concord all the way to Maine and make it home really late. I don't understand how they can do it (or why).

I try to shop when stores are the least crowded. No way would I participate in the madness of black friday.
The only black friday purchase I've ever made was my generator a few years ago. I ordered it online.

I was out the door at 4:45 yesterday morning to Black Friday shop I wasn't planning on going that early but the dog decided he couldn't hold it any longer and woke me up. But got a new hydraulic splitter on a early bird special and found a gift for my wife in the same store. I was home and napping before the sun was up.

Thankfully, I have worked jobs that allow me to hit stores at off hours for many years. 11am on a Wednesday is MUCH better than 11am on a Saturday.

Unless my wife drags me put shopping in the afternoon / evening on the weekend, I get all of mine done during the work day.

Nope. No black Friday stuff here. 99 and I looked at some ads and both remembered the madness from about 10 years ago.

If she had wanted to go, then yeah, we would've gone.

For several years the wife and I used to go on Friday late afternoon and picked up some good deals still but not for the last couple years. I worked yesterday and thought of stopping at Rural King until I saw the parking lot.

Why deal with the crowds when you can shop from the comfort of your home.
Other than meat dairy and bread I don’t even go into store anymore. Amazon is pretty much a one stop for EVERYTHING anymore and if you watch the sales it’s even cheaper

Sounds about like our situation. I hate shopping with my wife and she feels the same about shopping with me. When I go in, she stays in the car.

I split it between Amazon and Target for online purchases.

if it’s a bigger ticket item that I don’t need right away, I’ll put it in the Amazon wish list and watch it. The prices always drop drastically as the inventory gets low.

I waited in a freezing cold car in a freezing cold parking lot one year for a dept. store to open to get a cabbage patch doll for the four year old. It wasn't to save money, it was to get one. I remember there weren't many and also how freaking cold my toes were.

I'm sure the child appreciated the effort. Well, OK, probably not but they liked the gift! Now when they are older, you can remind them of that! :salute:

Someone commented over Thanksgiving at my brother's house that the stores not expected to be as busy this year.

Judging from the number of UPS, FedEx and Amazon trucks driving up and down our cul de sac the last few days, I think they might be right.

The WAlmart and Target parking lots were rather full Friday and Saturday each time I went by.
The grocery store this aft was fairly quiet though.

Yeah, it was like people had had enough of food ;) - Shaw's was almost empty when I stopped by about 2 this afternoon. I'll bet tomorrow they are hopping as people grab all the bread and milk before the upcoming storm.

She drives a Harley Davidson, so I'm gonna say so as she demands quality in her products! :handshake:

How is the ride doing anyway, bogieb ? I miss those "putting it into storage" threads/pics.

Me too! I do my grocery shopping late at night after work. If I need something that's not available at a 24hr walmart, then I can get it any morning.

Actually I do, but there isn't one anywhere near me or where I normally shop. In 2014 I got a Porter Cable sander as well as oscillating multi-tool from them. And in 2017 got my shop work bench from them
