It looks like Sunday night we have .86 of precip coming in, if that stays the same the Brook will be rolling.
So far things in our area are ok, they changed the rain total from .86 to just over a .50 inches for Sunday. The water levels are dropping from an earlier forecast, this feeds the river across the road.
Just some pics of the Brook, it's rolling along real good. The highest the Brook ever got was about three feet over the road when a chit load of bridges were taken out in this area, I think it was 7. We still have enough snow I can't get back in to cut.
It looks like it will get worse, this is for our area. ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON HAS ISSUED A * FLOOD WATCH FOR NORTHERN NEW YORK AND MUCH OF VERMONT. * FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING. * ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL LEAD TO CONTINUED SNOWMELT AND RISES ON SMALLER RIVERS AND STREAMS. WITH RIVER LEVELS ALREADY STARTING HIGHER THAN LAST WEEK...MINOR FLOODING ALONG SMALLER RIVERS AND STREAMS WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND. THE POTENTIAL FOR MORE SUBSTANTIAL FLOODING WILL OCCUR IN THE MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY TIME PERIOD AS EVEN WARMER TEMPERATURES MOVE INTO THE REGION ON MONDAY. THUS VERY RAPID SNOWMELT WILL OCCUR AND AS A STRONG COLD FRONT MOVES ACROSS THE AREA ON TUESDAY...HEAVY RAINS ON THE ORDER OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE EXPECTED. THIS WILL LIKELY CAUSE MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING ON LARGER MAINSTEM RIVERS IN ADDITION TO SMALLER RIVERS AND STREAMS. IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE GIVEN THESE CONDITIONS THAT EVEN MORE SIGNIFICANT FLOODING COULD OCCUR. * IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT ANY FLOODING THIS WEEKEND IS LIKELY TO BE MINOR FIELD AND ROAD FLOODING WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF ICE JAMS CONTRIBUTING TO SOME FLOODING AS WELL. THE POTENTIAL FOR MORE SIGNIFICANT FLOODING WILL OCCUR IN THE MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY TIME PERIOD ON MAINSTEM RIVERS AS WELL AS SMALLER RIVERS AND STREAMS. ANYONE LIVING NEAR THE LARGER MAINSTEM RIVERS MAY WANT TO THINK ABOUT TAKING PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS THIS WEEKEND TO PREPARE FOR POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT FLOODING EARLY NEXT WEEK. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
I think the Brook is down about 12 inches, I took a ride down to the bridge, you could see the high water mark on the cement from earlier in the day, we'll see tomorrow.
Just some pictures of the Brook, the two pics of the high water mark were taken at different times, I think the first pic was just before 5, the second pic was taken just after 6.
It looks like the Brook is down some from last night, I 'll do another check this afternoon. The picture of the rock is just another item I can gauge the drop or rise of the Brook by.
I still have one area that has enough snow I can't get through, next week it should be a go for cutting.
Here's a few shots from this morning. This is the highest I have ever seen it. It is over the walking trail and out to the bottom of the big hill. The last one is an old one from a slightly different angle.
I need to try out my camera my wife bought me for Christmas. Not this past Christmas, the one before it. I got my I-phone at the same time and I just always take pictures with it. Then I don't have to carry the other one. I think it is still in the box, unopened.
They just revised the water levels south of us. You should get the camera out, it's a gift so use it.
The Brook is back up over a foot easy, it looks like it was up even higher than that from the high water mark on the cement, I had to beat the storm coming (I took off real quick) in so the camera never made it.
Even higher here today, and it probably has not peaked yet. It must be a foot higher than four days ago. Oh. I brought mine with! (I-Phone)
