They do a very good job. They were out again yesterday. I could see on the camera that they dug a trench with a backhoe to keep the runoff from running across the road. The dump truck was pretty full, so I’m guessing they did that to a few areas along the road. We’ll see how things hold up today with the predicted rain.
It came down pretty good overnight by the looks of the tree trunks, sopping wet. It's still raining but not hard from the looks of things.
I just checked the rain gauge, so far we received 20 mm or 0.787 inches of rain since it started overnight. It's still raining, nothing real hard but still coming down steady. I think the last rainfall map for this area was calling for 1.26 inches of rain.
Man oh man, those pics from Georgia are too much! Had a strong north wind kick up this morning about 7 or so that was joined by violent rain. 8/10 of an inch in about 20 minutes. I thought for sure the power would drop but only dimmed a few times.
I just emptied the rain gauge and with the last hard rainfall we had around 4 p.m., the total from this storm was 1 inch.
The sun has been out here since I came back from a walk and I think the grass has grew over an inch in the last two days.
Tornado touched down in Keene yesterday afternoon and what were probably straight line winds shut down rt 101 (the major east /west road) in Dublin from trees being snapped. That was from the same storm cell that hit Keene.
An inch of rain fell in 3hrs here, early evening yesterday. Lots of flashes and booms. Mother Nature is handing us hot and muggy air today. Rain returns tomorrow.
I heard thunder and lightning, saw it online dissipate and dry up just as it got here . We got about 7 drops of rain. Was fairly intense north of me and to the west in southern RI/Ct.
Ours amounted to about an hour of rain that got things wet. the rumble of the thunder got the dogs worked up, otherwise it was not much.
You north Hoarders forgive me for lack of humor as I deal with FEMA and NFIP if anyone has experience shoot me a PM
It was confirmed by NWS that Dublin, NH was hit by the tornado too. Apparently the one that started by Keene/Swanzey skipped around a bit along a straight line east. I heard on the news that it was 200 yards wide (doesn't say in the article). Did take out a small solar farm, but no one was hurt. They have some drone footage in the link above.
You know, it’s funny you say that. I thought after I typed it. “While I think I’m north, I’m technically south for many of the VT forum members…” LOL All best dealing with the agencies. I know our town went through a process a few years back.
