Hitting us in the sw corner of mi right now. Can't be as bad as the one the hit Monday afternoon.

 

Tornados. Horrid, very scary. I would think our group is among the most protected with shelters.

 

Thankfully Tornado's a very rare up here in New England. I don't know how people deal with those. Yeah, we can get a lot of snow, but when it melts the house is still there. Stay safe everyone.

 

Yeah we get hit pretty good sometimes. Monday was the worst storm I've seen personally in real life. I was at work and early afternoon it rolled through. Loudest wind I had ever heard!!! Can't see out the shop door more than 20ft. Don't know if it was a small tornado or straight line winds but it pushed allot of trees over and broke tons of branches. People are still out of power this morning. The path was from cook nuclear plant towards Niles. My house was in its path but we faired pretty well considering. Here's the branch that I found on my roof and the one next to the house. Inches away from knocking over wood that I stacked Sunday. where they came from driveway aftermath a barn that wasn't leaning to begin with. here are some trees uprooted at work. Elm, oak, cherry was snapped off and a sassafras. I drove some different roads home last night and I've never seen so many big trees uprooted and big pines snapped off. This one house must have had 12-15 big white pines in their front yard. At least that is my guess from the road. But they lost 75% of them. Snapped off about where the first set of branches where. I'll have to try and get a picture.

 

Gotta have priorities right?

No surprise really. It was a narrow path only about 1/2 mile wide.

I called my dad afterwards, cause he only lives about 5 miles from my work, to see how they faired. He said there was an empty 5 gallon bucket on the picnic table and it hadn't moved

 

Yes they did. My in laws were affected. Their house was flooded up to the ceiling off the downstairs. Got evacuated by boat.

 

Sorry to hear mdavlee , we're glad that they got out.

 

Yeah it was good they were finally evacuated. The wife and her father are going tomorrow to see if they can get back to the house.

 

We had a small tornado this morning in the town where I work. It passed about 1 mile or so away from my work place
Blew out the windows in the office and the back glasses of several cars at this plastic pipe plant
A house had some pines fall on it
Our public middle school
Flipped a truck over
One of the city water towers
