We're are missing all the storms (not complaining) but Saturday thru Saturday night they're calling for 4-8 inches, not much, but it's a start.
They are calling for snow here as well Saturday. Not sure how much yet. We are at 4"and its slowing down. Might get another inch, we'll see.
Shows that it's not the same normal wether pattern of the last 10 years. Back to Weather like we had in the 60s & 70s, I remember cold & snow when I was back there, (Western PA - N WV area) but my memory may be skewed LOL (As I remember: I walked up hill to school both ways, in rain & snow, barefooted)
Well i was back in the saddle again today. The plow truck saddle lol. Only got a few more inches but it was enough that the lots needed plowing.
Weather news says some of youns are getting hit pretty good with snow. Any good pictures? Drive smart & safe !
About 5" here since the snow started around 11 AM. Pic doesn't really do it justice. Might get a few more inches before it slows up tonight, only to start back up tomorrow. The good thing is that it's nice fluffy lake effect snow. With the 15 MPH wind I can throw the snow clear across the front yard.
Just get by one storm and here comes another. Projection at this time us for 18 to 24 inches. Better get those wood boxes filled. Pellet heads, count how much you have where you can get to it! I have the number for the plow guy.
Dry snow, wet snow Now 24" of snow. Winter of 13/14 is starting off with a blast in the lower 48. Windy (25 mph) 30°, partly cloudy here
Not so bad as two feet, but still too early to tell. But no matter, it seems we'll get either get too much, or way too much.
We were supposed to get snow squalls here today, but nothing has appeared. Temp has been steady @-10 all day and is supposed to drop to -23 tonight. Think I'll fire up the second stove this evening as it is supposed to stay in those temp ranges thru next monday. We only have about 4" of snow on the ground, so the frost is starting to really drive down.
Had to buy oil today. With the deep freeze to arrive tomorrow, I didn't want to have the house get cool if the pellet stove couldn't keep up with the heat loss. It does ok into the teens, but if it stays there, or gets even cooler as predicted, then the hot air furnace will need to kick in to bring the house up to temp. Hadn't bought any oil since last year. We get our hot water from a oil fired hot water heater. Only bought 100 gallons, however that was about $3.60 a gallon. I had hoped to hold off until after Christmas, but this weather of late has been more like January. I shouldn't have to buy oil again for another year.
That map is what I'm seeing around here. I think ultimately it will come down to temperatures. We will be borderline during the warmest part of the day.
Received a quick inch early this morning that the road crews weren't prepared for. Cars crashed everywhere when things turned to ice. I got into work before this happened. Expecting a moderate accumulation sat/sun.
Cold, way too cold, but the wk end snow fall now is predicted to be 3 to 6 inches, and again, very cold.
Ummm, I laughed alittle. (It was cold, lol, stove went out.) Expecting a foot or more by sunday morning... don't get too excited!
