Move logs not rounds. Buck em next to the splitter which is next to the shed. Split until dark and stack under the lights.
There are a thousand variable tho.
Is your splitter set up for one man operation? Toss the splits at the boy and he can stack as you split. Can your son be rented? LOL

I tend to always move my splitter to whatever I've bucked. My back doesn't like picking up the same heavy log twice if it doesn't have to.

Option 4 - pallet fork the logs to the wood shed, cut split and stack right there.

Can bring the logs right to the outside of the shed. Cut into a pile or split as you cut the rounds. Then toss the splits in a pile that can be stacked after dark.

I like your son's idea the best. Besides it sounds like splitting hairs. Make your son feel good about his idea.
