Last summer I found the d box driving over and crushing it with the tractor! I did not sleep that night thinking I’d need to replace the system . Luckily if you have the original plan you can repair it legal beagle. Don’t see many mounds her in NH. Down in mass you need to pass a septic test/inspection for a sale. People have mounds in the front yard all over the place
And all those mounds have the white PVC candy canes sticking out of them. Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
Well d box was 4 feet underground, so pool sat on top, 7 years later, concrete disintegrated and 8 yards of pool sand filled the leech lines.. It was a chatty job.
So septic guy gave multiple options - starting with using existing tank as a pump chamber. Pretty much put that to rest when I showed him where the well is on opposite corner of the house. We came up with a plan to install a new poly tank as getting a concrete tank on the corner of the house is going to be a PITA. Run a continuous line under where the deck will be and since I have a "cut bank" retaining wall on the pool no field lines can be within 25' of that. Then run 3 separate 60' trenches of leach vault tiered down the slope. Essentially each one is its own leach field when full spills to the 2nd and 3rd. Or if first fails you basically have two backups. 100' of gravel pipe is required per bedroom or 60' of leach vault. $3200 for just the field on existing tank another 1k for the poly tank.
Sorry for the . But how nice to have new dependable system. And w 2 people and a 3 bedroom system, bet it won't need to be pumped for years Our previous home was 1967 on the top of a gulch, darn thing still works til this day!
I was going to add some anecdotes that they've seen over the years. Most memorable is the tank was a '54 ford sedan and leach field was tires stacked end to end The pumper guy said his own field on a house he purchased early 2000's had a field that was just busted up brick ~24'x70' worked great for 40yrs then stopped taking water. Then there was a tank that was once a shallow well 30'+ deep. Apparently stopped making water so they routed the septic to it. Several custom made tanks one 20' long 6' wide 5' deep with 3 baffles the owner said they'd pumped enough after the 3rd load
Yes installed. He's the most reasonable guy around thus stays really busy. Possibly be installed next weekend.
Doesn't seem a bad price at all from here. Ours was just under $4000....new tank, lines, and field. As long as the money's there, just do it.
So about 5hrs working time I have a working system We decided the existing tank was good with baffle. Turns out there was a leach field just not connected possibly due to roots or settling and it was taking water- we found a green outlet pipe a few feet from the tank and black pipe in gravel. Now there is ~180' of leach bed chamber with a cleanout for the tank and riser lid. Time for deck rebuild thread.
What does the capped pipe above ground do? Is that what a "cleanout for the riser tank is"? Also, our new system ~ fall 2015 used similar or the same leachfield, but 2 rows at 100' .
Is the black thing the leach bed chamber? Have never seen that. Looking forward to seeing you sitting on the new deck, after the deck rebuild thread..... toddy in hand.
