Classicgmax how did you make out with your retest? I have about close too 2 solid cords of red oak from a tree that’s was cut down in my back yard last January. Split and Stacked since Feb 2017. I get great airflow and some decent sunshine. The stack in my pick I decided to “rotate the stock”a couple of weeks back due to a bunch of leaves getting jammed behind the lower end. I have a split in my garage on my splitter and will split it again tomorrow and check the MC. I’m betting it’s still above the 20% mark, even tho a lot of these splits are clanking like a baseball bats And are splitting on the ends. From what I have learned from all of these fellow hoarders on this site is that Oak takes a while to give up it’s moisture.
Mikeyb let me know your results I believe I did post retest results, had averages of 25ish and saw a high of 36. I checked several pcs as well as checked different locations on the splits. Temp was at around 32. I plan to check for a third time if/when it stops raining, or when my son doesn’t have soccer....whichever comes first. But when I do I plan to freshly split another round for a reading
Sound good man. I just grabbed a couple of extra splits from two different Stacks from the same tree. Have them inside the house and will re-split them tomorrow and test
Resplit and the readings are in the mid 20’s. I’m hoping for plenty of sunshine and warm winds this summer.
