Bet I could get $600 for a cord of seasoned oak around my place. Plus $60 for delivery. $500+$60 easily.
I recently listed 1/4 cord bin of dry locust on Facebook marketplace for $75. No bites yet and if I don't sell it I know it will fit in my stove.
Might have to change the description......people might think of a 1/4 cord of dried grasshoppers. People not so sharp nowadays.....
I follow a Facebook page on fire wood selling and depending on location that's about ballpark for premium wood. Have seen as high as $750 for oak in CA.
Crazy prices for lots of things in some places. The Seattle area ( maybe more so Redmond) certainly has raised the bar on the definition and perception of premium . BLW Firewood | Wood Prices That satirical parody comedy piece of artisanal firewood has a genesis.
I dont no why anyone could or would spend that kind of money to heat there home. At $500 a cord it I would spend $4000 a year just to heat my shop.
Some just want to have a fire to look at or outside burning. I have a customer with a fire pit. I had oak and hickory mixed in the shed last year, her husband only wanted oak, so we sort it out, get to her house and find its for fire pit...... Told her I had firepit wood for a cheaper price, ...she liked the premium wood, so she gets the premium price... City folks, even in a small town...
Same here. I hate selling good stove wood for firepits and campfires but at $240 cord I ain't complaining.
I hear you loud and clear. I just sold an $80 face cord of three year old oak to a guy who is taking it to deer camp for an outside fireplace!
