I spent my college days around Providence - East side , Brown, RISD, Federal Hill and RIC.
More recently took the train to New York and Virginia from Providence station and ( besides the Providence Station being new) lots of Providence I didn't recognize. Surely not the stinky, fouled, old polluted river.
The Cliff WAlk in Newport was something many did early in the morning right after the bars closed, and they alll closed by 1AM back then.

Thanks for sharing your adventures. That fantasy house was something else. Imagine living full time in a place like that. Only if you had servants to clean it.
So nice that you got away for a couple of days with just your wife. I don't know if I would do it but it would have been a quite a paddle down the center of town at night. Walking beside it must have been quite neat.

That's just one vacation home, which makes it crazier.
I would have enjoyed the paddle, but going under the bridges in the dark would have been weird. The stretch above Rt 95 would be very different in the dark as well.

My son used the rope swing again like he did here a few years ago. The rope is short though, so it took the two of us to get it ready for the next swing.
Had my son paddle my moms kayak back since she’s slowed down a bit.

Had water leaking through the kitchen ceiling.
Tore up the bathroom floor to find the problem.
Discovered rotten wood from leaks, the toilet flange rusted away, toilet shut off valve wouldn’t, and no water shutoff for just the bathroom.
A number of trips to the despot later and it’s almost all back together.
    This was last week’s project 5ED15A29-520C-4792-A47C-8BEE70B75F74.jpeg 572DE7C3-4374-405A-8414-E841A3862F50.jpeg

37700D66-202A-42FA-A02F-24E747E90469.jpeg We all got this ebike together for my dad for Christmas, he’s really been enjoying it.
His health was keeping him from going riding with my mother or the family, now he can pass all of us going up hill.
He actually only turns the battery on for hills, making the range increase quite a bit. CA92032C-FB02-414A-BA21-9A165C419272.jpeg 04031916-5B82-4BE3-8945-78E7B87B5F1E.jpeg 4400AB08-247A-424B-9E58-8E2CEDEA88EF.jpeg 6492ECCC-F8D1-463C-A94F-B2EAF89FF63C.jpeg family visit for Columbus Day weekend, showed them the Salem windham rail trail, they were jealous. They have been rooting for the useless tracks in their town to be ripped out for over a decade, and after a prolonged fight they finally were removed this summer.
NY has wasted many millions on a scenic rail road in the Adirondacks that can’t even run the trains they have, and none of the millions they get for rail maintenance ever did a thing for replacing the rotten ties or washed out rail bed.
Now the right of way is posted no trespassing, and they’ll have to wait for the snowmobile season to be over, but they finally have a rail trail of their own.
We’re super blessed to have so many in this area and a few more in the planning stages. 6E6B7D88-40E1-4383-83BB-FC58ED5DF009.jpeg 74D80F7B-FA61-4C66-A678-E7A1F9253EE9.jpeg 84AF7E86-220C-4F3B-82C2-588981555786.jpeg 11BB71BE-1492-423B-A79C-D2D6F61510E3.jpeg 290B24B1-8B4F-45F7-8416-2C615F74F250.jpeg 0C9FF01C-87BC-4116-A01E-7ADC92930B97.jpeg 5D08DC6F-8B83-403A-8C20-B17B16EA85B4.jpeg Finally got my helicopter ride! It’s funny, I’ve only ridden in a helicopter twice in my life and both times it was a Boston medflight helicopter.
The last time was over 20 years ago, I worked in a hanger at Hanscom Air Force base, and Boston medflight shared a hanger with us. I helped the mechanics with a task, so they brought me along on the test flight afterwards.
This time my airplane broke on Nantucket and there’s no good way to get there otherwise.
Had a great 50 minute flight there , got things taken care of and had a sunset cruise back to Bedford.

Video clips from the flight from Bedford to Nantucket F1386957-88B4-4B09-A08A-209853EC2B86.jpeg 1368DEDA-5EC0-442A-AE8A-B5F366AD7410.jpeg
yeah I’m cheap, I get a bunch of plates for the price of one target at the range, trace the inside of the roll of masking tape for the bullseye. At 15-30 feet it’s the best training for pistol firing.
324AC2E3-E924-4EA8-A1A0-3455D39098BC.jpeg 8B7DE2B6-A2C4-4585-A744-260250C8739F.jpeg got a pistol for mrs row, and took my son to the range for the first time to try it out. She likes the revolver because it’s easy to know how to use it in a pinch, no drills to remember if it doesn’t fire, just pull the trigger again.
Used up some ammo I inherited from my grandfather, check out that price!
Now it’s about $15 for 100 rounds, just shows you how much has been stolen from the value of a dollar…

E5F75DEE-BFD5-4CEE-8C10-FA0ACE0485CA.jpeg Drove up to Franconia notch to see some foliage, it was beautiful and sunny the whole way up 93 294F9588-961F-41E3-B360-21BA0968C122.jpeg and so foggy you couldn’t see the mountains in the notch, along with howling winds and rain… E8FB1D76-C716-45FA-8057-2B6E6771AD85.jpeg so we drove out the north end of the notch and up Rt 3. Saw some great color and views there.
Then came back down 302 to Brandon gap 8B0FB6A4-1443-4555-97B5-F700173B948D.jpeg FB0E0A86-84DC-46FE-954A-3B45B6B154E7.jpeg where it was overcast again but beautiful D6F7009A-55F3-4CCD-997C-150375BAED4B.jpeg A954DE52-4CCB-4AA5-A8B1-F76BB5D5FD06.jpeg 1A9A42AF-927E-4B22-A826-B126AB160DAE.jpeg I have never been here before, but we had a great time climbing up to the falls just beyond the gap.
Even saw the conway scenic rail way train going through the gap while we were there. 9B2D2BDD-7088-46FE-B4F4-FFDA93EDA834.jpeg I had planned on going to sabbaday falls for the first time, but saw that 112 was gridlocked getting off of 93, so this trip through Brandon gap was the way around the gridlock, then we got a treat by having the GPS take us over bear mountain gap road or something like that, it was an endless tunnel of flaming leaves with pull off spots with vistas like this along it. Best views of the whole trip!

    The sunset was amazing.

I grew up hauling in the wood to feed one of these. Back then it seemed about 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide, so I kept being shocked when I would look at one and realize how much smaller it is than the grandpa bear we have now.
I know it’s big enough, the house I grew up in was bigger, had leaky windows and no insulation. And one of these Temp Wood stoves kept us plenty warm, even if feeding it felt like trying to fill a bottomless pit. anybody got an old lid lifter for a cook stove you don’t need anymore? That’s the only thing mr temple (yes they already named him, the old stove was mr fisher) needs to be 100%

I may never be able to see it for myself so thanks for sharing your pictures of it. It looks amazing. I love waterfalls especially ones that are different levels.
