Looks like you've had some great family outings. That part of Florida is really nice. Wanna buy a building lot by Crystal Springs? HaaaaaYou'd be close to mom and dad!
Tremendous ski season in FL. Almost year round. Just add a boat and a rope Oh. And a bunch of bucks......
I was a bit behind in seeing your thread. Thank you so much for taking us along on your adventures. It gives us a chance to see parts of your country that we will probably never get there to see.
My kids like to explore new bike trails, this one isn’t quite finished, but we rode it anyway. It’s called the eastern strand bikeway, and runs from the center of Lynn to Everett, near the oncore casino. The plan is for a bridge over the mystic river and a connecting link to the orange line at assembly station. It’s expected to be as heavily used for commuters as the minuteman bikeway. The minuteman is one of the busiest in the US. It runs under Rt 1 right before the Rt 60 exit if you’re headed to Logan airport. That bridge is a dividing line between the two types of scenery. The Lynn end has awesome views of salt marshes and rivers, with more urban scenery in Lynn itself. After the bridge, you are riding through a very urban corridor all the way to Rt 60 in Everett. my son’s 26” wheels vs my 29” wheels, I’m almost faster than him again, almost… Engine removal at work. Interesting machine for making trenches in the road, updating the gas lines to 100 psi. instructing my son on covering his kayak. He built this 4 years ago. He grew and he needed a bigger cockpit. Mountain biking behind the windham high school, no I did not go over the bike seasaw!
My sisters husbands clan comes out to Maine for a week every year, took a day off work and brought the family up for a visit. The kids were in the water all day. The purple boat is one I built for my youngest out of scraps from the other kayaks, she used it twice and didn’t like it I had no full size sawfish foam kayaks ready to go, so I brought her goldfish and my first ever foam kayak, seafoam, the yellow one. I took a trip up the river in seafoam, and made a video about her at one point. Not the greatest, I should have brought a selfie stick. Afterwards I had my kids swamp her to demonstrate the safety of a foam kayak. Then my youngest wanted to paddle her kayak over to the island, she began to get nervous about how small her kayak is and how big the bay is. So I had the kids try to sink her kayak so they would see how safe it is. Another fun time.
A beautiful evening paddle with my son, thanks to technology I could do this and attend a board meeting at the same time. Up before the sun for some work on my airplane
22 years married to the one God picked out for me. Due to uncertainty about the hysteria, I waited until July to make reservations. Not the greatest selection left at that point for an august anniversary, but I ended up getting an amazing basement apartment on Airbnb. It’s literally right next to the TF green airport, but thanks to being in a basement we never heard aircraft unless we were outside. The house has a beautiful view of lake Warwick and we enjoyed our morning devotions on the dock. I had purchased the black brackets last year to allow me to carry a tandem kayak and bikes. Spent a few days before we left figuring out how to make this set up for the kayak without buying anything else. all but the brackets is scrounged or leftover from other projects. It worked perfectly.
historic recreation of a war of 1812 warship, after a sister of the USS Constitution. Docked at fort Adams The Eisenhower summer White House. and the Kennedy summer White House, Jackie grew up staying in this house interesting house on a rock, only 10,000 a week to rent, sleeps 24 rose island light That little dory being towed around was more interesting to me than all of the yachts Being cheap I found free parking right next to the Jamestown bridge, then we rode our bikes into the port and had a picnic lunch before taking a harbor cruise to see the sights.
Rode our bikes over to marble house, an amazing house with a sad story behind it. Built as a gift for the wife of Cornelius Vanderbilts grandson. Money was no object so she created a fantasy house for her summer cottage, used only 6 weeks a year. Three years later she divorced him , but kept the house and a big allowance. She married a richer guy, and had a fancier house just a few lots down, but kept marble house for the better laundry it offered.
The Gothic room, she bought European collections of religious objects and books and had them collected here. There did not used to be many museums and this is how many of them got their collections and endowments later on. The gold room for special occasions, then the grand staircase and chandelier The red bedroom was her daughters room. I’m listening to her daughters book right now, she was very manipulated by her mother, even her room had to be kept plain this way with no personal effects in it.
Meanwhile the mother built herself this Disney princess fantasy room. Her husband’s room was almost more plain than her daughters, even the guest bedroom was fancier then his. and her boys were also in rather plain rooms, though they both have a view of the ocean the daughters book. She was forced to marry an English duke, and everything was planned by her mother. Her bridesmaids were her mother’s friend, even her father was excluded from the actual wedding or reception. The tea house built by the mother later on the daughters wedding was so the duke could get money for his estate and heirs, the wedding didn’t last. Money can’t buy happiness
After we rode over to the cliff path and walked some of it. The southern end is very rough, only the agile should try it
Paddling from Narragansett bay through the fox point flood barrier and up the Woonasquatucket River until we hit bottom, an amazing paddle with the Venetian gondolas giving rides and the interesting bridges. After we tried the entrance of the blackstone river, but didn’t get far with a falling tide. They dropped the jet ski on the ramp by accident Flood levels The river used to be polluted and covered with parking lots, this is what the whole downtown stretch looked like. My first mate fell asleep in here. Paddling under the flood barrier doors was rather intimidating in a small kayak
Monday we took a quick spin on the lake before leaving, found this T-6 wwII trainer at the airport on the way out as well
took the kids for a walk on Hampton beach with my in-laws after we got home. Had to get them to their train early at south station, got in a sunrise walk with God around pleasure bay at castle island
Good pics in Providence! My first kayaking experience was there. There used to be a little rental place on the east side. I knew someone who lived there at the time, so getting in and out was easy. Their weekend 'fire and water' program is neat, when they fill those black floating baskets with logs and set it ablaze. Where it is covered over, under the road decking, I discovered nefarious types swapping or doing illegal substances. But the boat traffic is neat to be a part of in the evenings. This was 22 years ago, when the waterfront was still rather new. Great pics! Sca
