Where'd that dirt come from? All I've seen for a long time is snow

 

Dirt came from Texas lol. Grabbed some soft maple at the same time. Highly doubt it's maple.

 

Looks nice split. I'd like to throw that into the stove.

 

Split easy, bark falls off in sheets. If I had MM I bet it would read "rtb" ready to burn.

 

How cold is it in Texas?

 

30 currently 14ish yesterday. Mid sixties last weekend and a possible record high 72 Thursday. The weather really swings drastically here. All four seasons in a day is possible.

 

Any more hits on an id? Split easy, almost cedar like red saw chips. Bought a MM from the box store today. Reads 12-19 on a fresh face but feels heavier than silver maple of high 20 percent.

 

I'm leaning towards maple as well. The split looks similar to box elder, but the ends don't have that transmission fluid look.

 

Been driving around working and looking at Bradford pear all day. Starting to wonder.

 

The verdict is in. Jury says mesquite. Being a Texan where that's the king of BBQ wood I shoulda known. Anyways the moisture dropped some today (4 day old face)
