I have a customer that wants me to replace the draw screens on his fireplace with some new ones as his are corroding/falling off. Now as an installer I have only ever just ripped those out with brute force and ignorance, never installed a set. Are they fairly universal or will I need to try to find something from the original manufacturer? I tried to convince him to let me put a hearth mount wood stove or small insert in but it's purely for the snap crackle pop effect and he doesn't care about heat. I realize I will need to know the exact firebox opening but is there anything else I should look out for?
