I use the low BTU stuff for weekends and shoulder periods, but as best I can tell its only 20-25% black walnut. Most of it is hickory, which would be great. Still waiting for a response from the landowner.
With your layout I'd say do it yourself, unless your certain the driver knows what's he is doing. That's not a driveway for a rookie to back up or down. And why not run it, trucks under warranty . Should look into developing the lower yard behind the inlaw suite so down the road can get trucks in, imo.
In his neck of the woods, it's all good firewood. It's like an unopened treasure chest of good wood. Compared to here where we're racing against the big outfits that are clearing big acreages in a flash for pulp 'n pellets
The other guy passed, I will look at this Thursday and see what the skinny is. 20 real cords of logs is a fair amount for most guys.
So I finally got over to see the wood. I may take some flack, but I am going to pass. The logger pushed 4 different piles up,around the place with a bulldozer, and he pushed them hard and full of mud. Lots of loaded limbs. The guy is nice, but not an experienced cutter, so he still wants $60 per real cord. Then the major ripple is the access is down hill, a few hundred feet, across an area the guy just leveled for the homeowner. While we did just 2 ft of snow, when I walked I found many depressions of ice, root wads, and frozen mud. The area is so tight I cannot get my truck to it, therefore would have to carry with a tractor about 400-800 ft each way. If I were retired or unemployed and owned a bobcat with a grapple, maybe. No score for me..
