Hello all, Thinking of selling one of my saws, but having troubles deciding what is a fair price. I bought this off craigslist because I love my CS-3400 which is the predecessor to the 340. It had cylinder damage and rather than accept defeat, I put a brand new Echo shortblock in it. Also did carb diaphragms, lines and other miscellaneous bits. Saw ready to be used by a climber or in a bucket tomorrow. IIRC, this series was selling at $259 msrp a few years back. They were $279 when I bought the 3400 many moons ago. I'm not looking to fleece someone, but don't want to give it away either. Is $175 too much for a saw that is for all purposes new, but looks a little worn? The shortblock was just over $100. What's it worth, Hoarders?? Thank you for input.
I think the only way you could fleece someone would be if you said it had a new short block and it didn't. Otherwise start high and show receipts if possible.
I'd also like to mention, because I have several, that we are increasingly entering the point where most people don't know echo made grey stuff. That and be prepared to explain the Kioritz to Yamabiko change. I have a cs3000 and it's a dependable little beast. And the echo lifetime ignition coil warranty is there to.
Have pics. It's kinda visible through muffler port. It is a good little saw...I just can't justify owning 2 of them and I am not giving up my CS3400 as it was the very first chainsaw I ever bought. Still works fine, though it doesn't run as crispy as the rebuilt 340. I'm gonna float it to some guys here at work to try and avoid shipping it.
