Saw shootout/ MS 440, ported MS 460, MS 461, and Solo 681

    All those saws had plenty of power... Running 36" bars with stihl RSC chain, we were all standing on them to make time..
    I'd run any of those, any day...

    Randy where do u think the ported 661c will stack up in thoso saws? Will the mtronics limit the saw in the cut?

    Time will tell.

    But no.....the M-Tronic will not hold the saw back.

    So u couldnt tune a regular carb saw to a higher rpm to out cut the mtronics saw with limited coil?

    Would it involve carb work and more fuel or will u chance leaning it out?

    RPMs are king in racing. If you can hit the wood and 15,000 RPMs as opposed to 13,000 RPMs, you have a head start on getting through.
    Even if both saws are tuned to produce maximum power at 12,500 RPM.

    Can a saw setup for woods port without carb work be setup for cant racing without carb work

    I guess what im asking is how can an mtronics saw be faster if u can tune a carb saw for higher rpm

    Not very many carbureted saws can be tuned properly any higher than the autotune saws allow them to run.
    In the case of a true racer, you would be correct. Carburetors and unlimited coils are still the best option.

    Just turning the screws on a carbureted saw for a higher RPM, will only get a lean condition and the Saw will lose power in the cut from overheating. Unless, of course, it is all set up properly together.
