We cut and delivered a load this morning. It was 99° at 1PM, 103 was the high.

I now feel ashamed for complaining about the heat. I don’t like to push deliveries forward because of weather. Just puts you further behind if more orders come in.

I feel a little corny making videos of my Woodyard, but I have a lot of new customers say they contacted me because they felt confident I had good firewood. Nobody else in Nashville posts a video or shows quality pictures of their wood supply. What are they hiding? Mounds of tree trimmings wood is my guess.

Posted a CL ad for my Ash firewood today since it was averaging 14% moisture. As a seller, I have learned to love Ash. Very low moisture after a few months, easy on the saw and chain, very light weight compared to hickory which makes carrying it out of the woods in whole rounds possible.

Two deliveries to the same customer; six face cords total (3 oak/3 hickory). With tip, seventeen Benjamins came home today! Two rows under the roof, one row on runners. Neat thing about this delivery is the customer told me the firewood didn't have to be ready to burn because he has another two cords ready for this year. So I brought him 6-9 month old stuff which will be perfect to burn by Christmas or even earlier.

Another blazing hot day today. Brought along two gallons of ice water on my two deliveries and was empty upon arriving home the second time. This guy was in the middle of no where, but obviously extremely wealthy with his property and house size. He couldn't stop saying how great my firewood was. He is a life long burner and is used to having a lot of dirt and garbage in his deliveries. Still, he was a little set back by my price. Multi millionaires should just be content with the good stuff in my opinion; and most are.

I closely inspected his other two cords of firewood. Small unspilt crap of unknown species to me. Not oak, hickory, maple or other good firewoods. He will certainly notice the difference between my firewood.

I did manage to bring home 1/2 cord of white this afternoon from my logger dude. His processor operator must be getting into the older stuff because the white oak seemed bone dry. Will bank $420 from today's purchased load. Hoping to cut some Wednesday; like to keep my saws running on fresh mix at least monthly.

I am about 5' 10" after shrinking over time. The heavy metal roof was about six inches lower. I was very fearful of hitting my forehead on the sharp heavy metal edges of his storage rack while stacking. Pleased to say I escaped without blood lose.

For you sellers out there, be prepared for negative comments by the upper class. I find that I totally forget about these people after the next delivery. I feel very comfortable in my skin about the quality of my firewood deliveries. Today's dude told me about what he paid for firewood ten years ago in Wisconsin. You are not in Wisconsin anymore, you are in my woodyard!

Two deliveries of two face cords each today. My first dude I have been delivering to for three years. He cheated on me and had other firewood at his house. Find this happening a lot this year. They decide to go cheap and get garbage wood. Then they call me back for my perfectly seasoned white oak and hickory. Confirms that I am doing things right. In their defense, why not try the stuff half my price.

Purchased this 1/2 cord pristine white oak load from my logger this morning. It was big stuff rejected by his white oak barrel and veneer buyers. Only made a little over a dozen cuts to produce this load. Lots of mauling on site though. Will turn my $25 purchase into over $400 early next year. Stuff was already very dry since it was in 4-8' lengths. Will be going for another load tomorrow of even bigger stuff.

Bagged another load of white oak at my loggers yard this morning. Did a lot of sledging and wedging and some noodling on some of the tougher pieces. His processor hasn't produced a stick of wood in four days, so have to produce my own. All the logs in the background are his white oaks. I get to cut and haul away what the graders don't want. A lot of times it is just a four to six foot section with some sort of imperfections that become mine for a heck of a price. I also collect the shorts and uglies from the firewood processing operation. If I didn't buy and cut all this, it would be piled up and burned. Guess there aren't any OWBs nearby to market to?

This picture makes the place look organized, but it is a junk yard of every type of machine and vehicle you would use in a logging operation. The six-way wedge was replaced a few weeks ago with an eight. I wouldn't be surpliced to see the sixer laying in the dirt for years to come.

By re-splitting, stacking and getting the moisture content well below 20%, I bank five times what the logger gets from delivering his dumped firewood. A no brainer when it comes to making side $$$

From August through today, sold 13 cords and brought in 15 from cutting and buying. Approximately 70 cords of inventory.
