When i browse ebay for saws ive seen similar prices for saws parts. Who on earth would pay that and why so expensive?
That stinks, I hate it when I do that kinda stuff!! I ran a tractor over my near brand new cs2511t, just makes a guy feel sick to see it happen.... I so wished I could hit the "undo" button!
Glad but not glad someone else has done this. I am still dumbfounded I did this. I think I will just buy a new one I guess. Everyone be safe!!!
Darn nabbit! I'm glad you are ok. Two positives....You will watch your holding wood from now on and wedge your biscuits off. That 500 will be more fuel efficient for a little while. Sincerely glad you weren't smashed into jelly. God is good.
Woodsnwoods, anyone can get on here and gloat about their accomplishments, but it takes a man to do what you just did! The good, the bad, and the ugly.....this is what’s so great about FHC! You get it all Never know who you may have helped with this post, and not one of us here hasn’t screwed up firewooding at one point or another. How does the saying go? Better to have firewooded and broken your favorite saw than to never have firewooded at all? Yeah, thats what it is Lesson learned....on to the next one. Thanks for sharing, as painful as I’m sure it was
Ouch!! Like was said before, at least it was "just" the saw, and nobody was hurt. Hopefully it's repairable. Also, as was said before I too will not fell trees when it's windy. Anything over 15 mph is a no go for me.
Glad you are okay! Saws are fixable or replaceable but you aren't. Thanks for sharing, its posts like this that keep me focused when cutting in the woods! Brad
Talk to huskihl, if you're gonna rebuild it, may as well make it a monster... Chvymn99 can elaborate....
You can get the whole saw out the door new for $1500. Why would you pay $1100 for one piece? I agree 100%
I think you can rebuild it but maybe some more pictures of it cleaned up. Is the fuel tank cracked? I think maybe that ebay auction might be a mistake. I should be closer to $184 for sure. If the case itself is cracked then it may not be worth it. Also you might have bearing issues if the crankshaft had pressure on it. Hard to tell.
Itll be interesting to see the extent of the damage. Hopefully the "core" parts are good and it can be fixed. Im kinda liking turning it into a HOT saw with the modifications. Not that ive run one or own one. A rabbit hole i dont wanna go down. Nice you have the 461 as a back up saw, but once you use a 500 there's no comparison. Ask me how i know this.
Get with Dave Smith (definitive dave), he's THE MAN for getting parts at a reasonable cost. He might be able to help. He can be hard to get ahold of here (he's a busy guy), go to his website (Chainsaw Conservation Components) he's a great guy, tell him we sent ya.
