Well split it, there should be two totally different smells between Oak and Cherry. I'm leaning towards Oak my self, pin oak. Great Grab though no matter what.

My vote is Red Oak. As Chvymn99 said, the smell will let you know what it is. Nice scrounge btw

We will be splitting it today. I will have other cherry to compare the smell to. I just cut my first cherry tree and then found this on the way home, how wild would it be if it was cherry too. That would be like being a 40 year old virgin and hooking up twice in the same night.

If it is oak, and I think it is, you won't need the other cherry to know. I'd love to find a 40 year old virgin.

How will I know? I haven't had any oak yet.

Ok, will I start sneezing? Otherwise, what type of aroma should I expect.

Strong. Some hate it; say it smells like cat pee. I like it.

Most fresh cut wood smells good , IMO.

Okay, big pic so I can get a final verdict so I can stack it. Didn't hit me over the head with its smell.

Now, who would orphan a perfectly good round like that?
    No sense of value.

Iam assuming this isn't oak since my nose didn't tell me, but it's still laying on the lawn until someone can id it.
