Same deal here. Shared driveway with five houses. Ours is the last 1/4 mile off the road.

Never hurts to ask I suppose. They may be ok with it if its for your kids. Is there room right off the road so they wouldn't have to come up the drive?

If you saw it youd change your mind in a heartbeat. Nice very private wooded lot that you cant find until youre almost all the way up our section of driveway. River in the ravine below. 45* wooded hillside in back. Only the landlords barn visible even in Winter. Access to the woods where i cut some dead and blowovers. No traffic noise unless truck or motorcycle.

Only problems are getting deliveries (UPS, fedex, Amazon etc) and Winter conditions on the hilly gravel driveway. New drivers are amazed and say "i never knew this was here"

Yup , you are in a good spot.
We spent many of hours there in the woods , even before your place and the barn were there.
Fishing , hunting , dirt bikes , camping and of course partying in the earlier days.
    Good times!!

It is a nice spot. Save for the occasional dirt bike that happens upon the place from the woods.

I agree if your side hustle as an adult, it’s aggravating for a kid you buy some wood!!! Even if you don’t need it

I did both for a while. PayPal took almost 20% on the first transaction. I only offer Venmo now. The fees are more reasonable. Usually one transaction a month. Most folks carry cash if they're planning to pick up firewood.

This is great! My son and I were going to try to do a firewood kiosk this year but ran out of time. This has me motivated to try it next year. Need to get splitting!!

No, that is the problem. Narrow country road, and narrow driveway, also my current driveway on my property doesn't leave any room for any one to park when all 3 of my vehicles are home. Customers would have to stop in the driveway. My neighbor is a police officer and volunteer firefighter. When he needs to leave on a call, he really rips out. He wouldn't be too happy with a blocked driveway.

You're probably right about that. I wonder if any neighbors or friends would allow a small stand for a trial run?

I probably could. Maybe soon once my son is done with football. I am thinking of selling a couple trucks worth this year since I know I can get maybe 200 a load in my area.

Year end up date: No sales from the new location, but ended up selling 141 bundles throughout the year. We haven't sold any from either stand in a month or so. Hoping it's just been to cold for fire pits and spring will help us sell some more. Been an interesting adventure.

Too bad no takers for indoor fires. Did you have a store front location?

I notice a spike in bundle sales when outdoor temps are just right for fires and around the holidays.

The new location is storefront, but not a busy store. Its a bait shop uhaul rental store. It's on the edge of town and blends in pretty well, which isn't exactly what you want.

Well sometimes life is about compromise. If you decide on that compromise, then we are satisfied with where we are and what we are doing.

My son started a firewood stand a few years ago. We don't do bundles, instead the rack is made of milk crate sized squares (13×13 square).
He's been moving a few cords a year that way, mostly from sales to our neighbors ( fishingpol was his first customer)
Once they found out a kid was doing it, they tended to buy a bunch and leave extra money.
Nothing has been stolen, probably because you have to come inside the yard to get it, and there are "smile you're on camera signs, which Finally were true when I installed a doorbell camera that sees the gate.
One time I came outside to find some kids had the gate open and were daring each other to grab some wood. I asked them if they could pay, and they came up with $2. My son has to split the money with us since it's wood we cut and split, so I sold them a square for $2 after explaining that my son is the one selling it and he's a kid as well. They left happy to get as much as they could carry and my son got paid.
He's now got a job one day a week and is making money from donating plasma so he's to wealthy to bother at 18.
Might be time to see if my 12 year old daughter wants to take it over.
