Does it matter what brand 2 cycle I get? IE, Supratech (Wally world generic), Huskihl or Stihl?

Edit, I meant Husqvarna, not Huskihl.

“They” say that Stihl produces a lot of carbon build up. That was my experience as well a lot more carbon/soot on the exhaust ports & mufflers. EVEN on my 261 M-Tronic that has the self adjusting carb.

I say “they” in jest because I believe there have been a couple threads posted on the OPE site that took before/after photos of piston/cylinders/exhaust ports/mufflers after running multiple types of oil.

Red Armor seems to be pretty popular stuff. I am sure that others will chime in about different types of 2cycle oils & how wrong I am.

I can show some comparo's if needed. I bought a case of the Bel-Ray and it far exceeds TSC in tacky-ness. I find the TSC much more pourable and less "thick". In fact, I can turn down my oiler w/ the BelRay because it sticks to the chain better instead of flinging off. Weird that we had different experience.

Red Armor has served me well for a while now, even milling. I pull the top ends every so many years to inspect and it leaves a nice film below and little carbon up top.

Thanks guys, I put 6 pk of little Red Armor bottles in my cart. I've been meaning to buy it for like over a year and all 2 cycle was out of stock (or price gouging) here forever, then I spaced it. Done:handshake:

Not surprised. I literally tried the BelRay once and it was like 15 degrees outside. It seems like the vast majority of people are experiencing the BelRay as stickier, so I think I need to give it another try.

I found Red Armor in the 16 oz. bottle on the shelf at a local small engine shop. This is nice since I run 40:1 in my ported saws, so the little pre-measured 2.6oz bottles (50:1) in the 6pk don't really work easily for me. No big deal, but a small improvement.

Jason definitely knows his way around small engines. I trust him WAY more than the average keyboard warrior like myself.

Thank you Mike, I don't know what ratio he runs in which equipment so I just switched it to the 16 oz bottle instead of the little 1 gallon ones, :handshake:

Not nearly as experienced as some fellers here... I'm just a firewood hack, but I do know how to properly sharpen a chain. :smoke::D

Not a IBC tote of true B&C oil, but it will mix in. 0127221148_HDR.jpg
    0127221149.jpg
We got several totes from our local oil distributor, had 40wt to 140wt in them. Probably got 20-25 gallons of it 0207221115_HDR.jpg
Then my cousin works at that distributor. She told me they had gotten 24 pallets of B&C in at a good price. She could sell us some at cost. 5 gallons/case, $35. TSC had the same brand in summer weight last year 0207221744.jpg
We got 2 cases of it so far. 0207221808.jpg
Plan on getting more when we get back from our trip. Might even bring some to the GTG for a door prize...

If anyone has a Blain's farm and fleet store locally, Mystic all weather bar and chain oil is on sale for $5.99 a gallon. Normal price is $6.79. Not sure if they will ship it as I have two local stores to choose from.

Just stopped at Rural King today. They had Mystik bar oil. Rack said 6.99 so I picked up 4. It rang up at 5.99. Thank you very much.

Nice deal. I'll probably grab some just to have extra. I'm setting 5 gallons between two brands currently.
