Got the 'second storey' on one of my IBC cages today. Too dark for pictures now, but you'll be impressed and you'll all want one.

Thought it looked pretty good - I turned to my dog Jess and said, "What do you think? Does it need anything?"

    "Ruff", she said.

"Right, a roof." So after transferring the softwood from the needs-to-be-cleaned-up-and-relocated covered IBC shown earlier, I also transferred its corrugated iron cover, beefing it up a bit since it's a more exposed spot. Actually it's a little uneven - extends a little more on one side than the other, but I was in a hurry as the wind was picking up and I had visions of a gust of wind catching me with a sheet in both hands, taking me off the ladder, over the farmer's field and past the farmhouse window ("Darn kite surfers ... why can't they stay at the beach") and depositing me face down in this year's onion crop. It got a lot windier later on, but by then it was done and it seems to be solid - I used heavier pipes on top, the thickest cable ties I had, and put a couple of concrete blocks on there for good measure.

Then I admired my handiwork and consulted Jess again. "I think maybe some bark down at the base to keep the weeds down". But all I got was a quizzical look.

"Bark. I think it needs some bark ... BARK Jess!"

    "Ruff", she said.

Yes, we've done the roof. How about some bark ... did you hear me? BARK!"

    "Ruff"

And so it went for another hour. That dog sure is stubborn. You might even say "dogged".

Here we are now, a lovely pitcher of my architectural masterpiece.

Detail of construction (no expense spared).

The view the Japanese tourists will get (and I'm sure there will be plenty of them).

I feel very confident that it's built to last ... so why did I feel compelled to pick up this DVD I saw at the library?
