Maybe ask if they will meet your asking price after a 30-90 day probationary period, if you meet their expectations? IDK...
Those will probably come with time anyways...

Counter offer for sure, even if they won't budge it's worth a try. Its the easiest form of a raise there is.

I'm glad things are working out for you!

Counter offers are fine - just don't make them outrageous. And, don't just counter to see if it works, justify why you are asking. I negotiated for an extra week of vacation because I got 5 weeks at previous employer so asked for 3 weeks and got it. I also asked for a little more money to help pay the extra that I would be paying for insurance, and they agreed to that. I was still under what I had been making - but then I didn't have a job at the time (company closed) so I wasn't going to complain.

However, I also had a company offer me exactly the amount I was making at the time and I asked for a little extra and they declined. I told them if they changed their minds I was willing to talk (they didn't). The thing is that we had discussed salary range expected during my interview. They said it was in line with what they were thinking but the offer didn't even match the lowest number.

Gotta break the news to the old gig today. Gonna offer to finish the week (which will be mostly rain out days looking at the weather). Probably shouldn't even do that given the lousy wage I'm getting.

If they fire me on the spot, the new boss says I start today lol. He is as excited as I am.

It is not bad form and shows you consider yourself valuable to the employer. However, it does not necessarily pay to be hard nosed at this point. If it were me and I could make a decent living, I'd probably accept but would certainly remember my original expectation and ask for a raise once you prove to the employer how valuable you are to him.

Best of luck to you lad.

Dont be surprised if the old gig offers you more money to stay

Of course, even if they offered you more money, rained out is rained out.

    Job accepted per a handshake.
    Counter was met.
    Gtg days approved off.
No free stihl swag until the rep comes back in.... Yes, I asked for free stuff on day zero :D:rofl:

A previously unmentioned perk was brought up after we stuck a deal. We have a private company gun range!:faint:
    I almost passed out!
I'm shocked this kinda stuff happened to me. I feel lucky as hell to get this chance.

Thank you all for the help, advice, prayers and letting me vent!

Congratulations Chris! This sort of thing happens to nice people. Now I hope Bentley can get along without you for a while daily.

You called it. They let me know I could make an " I wanna stay" offer.

I told em they had their chance. I was burned and gone. I actually told them they need to pay for quality if they want good employees. Word. For. Word.

They still tried to throw me a crew and foreman position. The bridge isn't burnt even with 3 days notice. Lol
