With many sales positions, you are done as soon as you tell 'em you are leaving.

    True.

You better have vetted them extremely well.

I left a fairly comfy position, under paid and near zero chance for meaningful advancement. I left there to go to a company that paid a lot more, gave me the same amount of time off, but they were diabolical liars. They totally lied about everything except the pay, and the time off. I vetted them to the extreme, sorry if breaking out the lie detector. That was easily the worst job I've had in my professional career.

That really bad experience however did get me to elevate my pay and allowed my to make that next jump.

So, it can go bad, it could go well, or it could change and go sideways.

This is the cautionary tale in favor of giving two week's notice. Every employer that I have left on my own terms would have gladly taken me back if the new job didn't work out well. If I had just quit, that would not have been an option. I also had a boss from a former job almost instantly give me a job when the place I was working at folded - he had gone to another business (where I am at now). Heck, they didn't even know what I was going to do, but they knew they wanted me.

However, those have all been places I've been at for several years - so may or may not apply to this particular situation.

After working with my new boss for 1 day, I have no doubt that he would not treat me Any different if notice was given. Very very good guy.

We did a day and a half of work in 1 normal 8 hr day. I overheard him call the head honcho at lunch. He says:

"Evidently you have been giving me chit employees for 3 years, because this guy gets stuff laid out and planted faster than I can get it off the truck. We're gonna need more plants for today, or we will be done by 2 pm".

My body sore as hell, but at least I made a good first impression.

Off to the shower so I can do it all over again today....except it's 30 degrees colder :(

True, no 2 weeks notice will likely lead you to never be able to return. In any of my cases, I never would want to return.;)

    Good job bocefus78 !

    Maybe he'll pay you more:)

Boss man locked the only set of keys in our international flat bed rig today. I ran home, grabbed 2 felling wedges and a metal coat hanger. Wedged the door open enough to slide a long azz drill bit in to open the triangle vent window. Slid hanger in window crack and pulled the keys outta the ignition with the hanger and out the vent window.

Took 5 minutes. I had an audience. The look on their faces was priceless. One of the desk jockeys said that it was disturbing that I had those tools. I lol'd. Not sure if that was smart or dumb, to showcase my b and e skillz

Interview tomorrow am for the ope dealership service writer position. Hopefully nobody's locked out :D

    Nice.

Did you say "hold my beer" right before you went to Jimmy town?

They didn't know you well enough, so probably not the right place or time. But what is the right place or time?

Society has all these rules and expectations.

    Desk jockeys.. :picard:

Sit tight, they may have been so busy covering the open position they didn't have time to decide. That said, personally, I would make an earnest visit when the boss's are there to inquire ;)

Guess who just got an offer letter via email.
They came in a little tiny bit under what I asked for, but it's salary plus overtime. Benefits. 401k. Paid holidays.

I don't think the difference is worth even making a counter offer. Is making a counter bad form? Meet in the middle kinda thing?
Take it and say where's my free stihl t-shirts and hats?
