My mother in law lost her cancer battle about 12 years ago. She and my wife were best friends. Getting old ain't for sissys that is for sure. Sorry all for the losses, look back on the good times as their earthly pain and battles are now over.

Amen to that. I saw it coming and hate it.

As for the laws of the state, for someone perhaps in the future that has to face this possibility, I'd think strong about renting a place in a different state just so the patient could get some relief.

Sadly, we watched a very close friend suffer not long ago but it was not laws; it was his wife that stopped the pain medicine. She thought it would kill him by taking it... The only good is that he went quickly.

boettg33 and others here. Im very sorry for your loss and all the bad that comes with cancer. Lost my step son here in our home 4 years ago. My wife had liver cancer and a transplant and Im very lucky she is doing ok. My brother has stage 4 but he will hopefully be around for a while yet. Im only say all this because cancer seems to be all around us.

I lost my FIL to Lung cancer 8 years back, my mom passed last year. We are tested by the events that unfold with the ones we love. We stay strong and find comfort in those who suffer losses with us. Family and friends really help us in times like this. But the pain lasts, so strong at first, but then the memories shift to happy times and places and remembering the things that made us laugh. boettg33 I will say a prayer for her. She suffers no more. So sorry to hear of your loss.

    My condolences boettg33
I lost a grandmother a few years ago to the c. She was able to stay home thankfully. Her last days were peaceful, last hours not as much. Hope you and your family find peace in her passing.

My family, mom/dad/sister have been gone for 6yrs now. We manage the grief.
It comes and goes. It doesn't hang on me now like it did. We are learning how to do it.
Thanksgiving, we create the things we enjoyed as kids w/our families. Same for Christmas.
No tree this year because of the puppy. But, she put up ornaments in the most unlikely
places. Put lights on her house plants...of which there are many. Put the bells that
were always on the front door up....the sound of Christmas to me.
Remembering....honoring the memories. Honoring the people.
Gone, but not forgotten. That is how life is now.

Sorry for your loss. There are no words to ease the pain.
