Replacing baffle board on quadrafire

I'd rather do 5 baffle board replacements ( time wise only) than 1 door gasket replacement.

Just saying..

 

Yeah, that Rutland 1/2"-5/8" gasket makes the door super hard to close. We'll see, but I may need to go a size smaller. 1/2" should make it work better. You can't stretch the stuff I got to stay in the smaller 1/2" diameter, not with getting it to stay on the door at least. I know I like the grey rope gasket and but the bright white stuff that I was sold originally. Granted the stuff I bought before was way too wide diameter. 3/4" does not fit, I'm sure of that.

 

The gasket is slowly getting better with time, as far as the door closing goes, but I still think I'll need to put in 1/2" stuff. The latch doesn't close like it used to, and as it is, my wife won't feel comfortable reloading the stove.

That's a deal breaker.


The glue I have from Gaskets Inc while kinda a pita because it's very runny and this is a bay front door and it's not flat, at least did as they said and could be used within minutes of installing the new gasket.
It's kind of difficult to keep a runny liquid on the two 45° ends while the front flat part is how it is when the door is on its front.

 

Easier if you take the door off.

My door is not flat, seeing that it's a bow front door. So even off the stove the due is impossible to have it lay flat.


So those two "wings" on the ends are at 45° angles or so when the face is flat.

Easy solution, it's too buy a door gasket glue with higher viscosity. The Rutland red stuff is like an rtv, and should work well. The door is a little easier to latch this am. We'll see.
