I had to look it up. I don't know anything about Waco. I guess wavy lay's man is now in charge of the ATF. I found a meme.
Not in charge, his nomination was retracted this week. There’s a lot of information on YouTube explaining (the bulk) of what happened back in 1993. Pretty horrific. Prior to Waco there was another incident at Ruby Ridge Idaho that didn’t turn out so well for anyone involved. Then in 1995 in retaliation there was the Oklahoma City bombing... not trying to get political, just saying these are all good topics to dig into in order to get a grasp on the bigger picture here.
BTW in all fairness, that meme is only partially correct. In any case if you like owning a semi automatic sporting rifle, what transpired this week was a good thing for you.
I went to Academy Sports last night and they had more ammo on the shelf for handguns and rifles than I've seen in a long, long time. Shotgun shells are a different story. Not much there.
Interesting. It's coming back here but in waves. People will pick up the ammo they haven't picked up in awhile but leave the stuff they haven't needed or it's godawful pricing.
There's still a line of ammo flippers outside the Academy 3 days a week here. .410, 30-30, and a couple others get bought up instantly. I'm going to Wal-Mart tonight....have seen a single box of anything on the shelves there in forever.
Sunday mornings is my best time for ammo at wally world. Actually passed on some 22 boxes this past week. They were only 1,000 fps and my counter guy said he didn't recommend them.
FWIW. I saw on 1 of my hunting pages a guy bought 3 boxes of Remington center fire at wallyworld that came from the new mfg. He found split necks on some of the rounds.
“Friday” ammunition. Hopefully their QC department gets a hold on things. I’m sure everyone working there is under tremendous production pressure.
I just assumed my local Wal-Mart stopped selling it around the time they stopped selling firearms. The cases are now just knives and maybe some optics, no ammo.
I don't see lines in my state. People are either too busy shooting it or got other things to do. Last time there were lines for things like that was a Black Friday sale, biggest problem was the computers were ridiculously slow. But with 2 boxes of 250 count .22, my lady and I were good on that sale and there's not been a sale on ammo since then that I'm aware of. I've probably mentioned somewhere on here that I'm on some kinda on a .22LR liking now so I buy it whenever I can find it if it's decent enough priced. Well if that didn't spur a "what's a dollar today is worth more than tomorrow" moment, Wally Mart upped the prices on .22 bulk boxes I was finding on a more occasional basis (Federal Automatch 325 pack). It's the cheapest ammo you can find around here only comes from that store and I'm unsure if their ammo contract was coming to a close or that was a bunch of claptrap? I grabbed those boxes and others that I could find of the stuff since my Savage 64 is a semi and somewhat finicky on ammo. Need to use high velocity until I really get it smoothed out. Probably don't have much more than 300 rounds through it, been lacking time to get to the range. Also I don't flip my ammo. I pay today to play tomorrow in case tomorrow doesn't buy what I bought yesterday.
