So I have personally found that during a reload with this stove I always get some degree of smoke in my house. Even during the coaling stage.

I tried to instead of opening the air and heating the coals, close the air fully, reload on dark coals, close the door, and open the air up. The coals wake right up and the fire takes off.

This technique has been effective in stopping smoke spillage for me.

I have double wall stove pipe to a stainless steel liner 25 feet tall.
