There could be some weld splatter or something stopping it. Does it open 100%? All new EPA stoves will not allow for 100% air closure. This is so the fire always has some air and burns "clean" So it may be closing as far as they want you to close it? Or there is the possibility that something could stop it.
Yeah, it doesn't make much sense. Because plenty of others have been getting 20+ hours. The floor model at the store has the exact same air control problem (opened up the back of the pedestal, removed the plate and got a flashlight and got a good look at everything inside). Really befuddling. Waiting to hear what Regency says
Got one. works fine. It's designed to get air no matter what - so the fact the air damper lever will not close the supply down 100% is a moot point anyway. We're going to use ours full time starting tonight so in a few weeks will have a pretty good idea what the max burn times are going to be. The temps here are dipping to below freezing day and night so may have info to share soon.
Thanks for sharing and I'm sure we are all looking forward to your review. This is a large stove that I have been looking at replacing my NC-30 with (or a BK or a new WS stove).
It will take a while for me as most on this forum know lot's about cats and hybrids etc. I'm only used to a dead simple secondary burn Napoleon so will be a bit of a steep learning curve. As soon as we get some cold weather we can experiment with stuff like e/w or n/s and various setting and so forth.
I'm a fan of N/S over E/W. My box is just about square. The N/S is a faster hotter burn, but my 30 is secondary burn only. Much like your old Napoleon. The E/W may benefit because of the slower burn. But that all depends on how the pituitary air inlets and where they are located. Good luck and it's gonna be exciting to read your future posts!!
