The Politicians say kids are not getting a good enough education? I guess most of us here, chiseled on stone tablets like the Romans, I don't want to get this political but NY, NJ and Mass the property tax is just way out there. NH has some high tax but your not taxed on anything else.

Any increase in the school tax portion of our bills has to be voted on around here.

Schools are just like any other tax payer funded government entity, they are simply responding to the demands and standards that are put upon them by the legislature that is elected by the very same tax payers, don't like it...get involved but don't blame the schools...cart before the horse.

Well, that is nice, but so do ours (we vote on all town budgets). Doesn't keep the school budget in check since who wants to be seen as being against the kids?

    Yup,
Here teachers make tenured 150k+ and they get raises 6% every year. Most working class people I know don't get raises due to the "economy".
What's worse is education quality is the lowest it's been, but spending is the highest.

The business where I used to work hasn't handed out any raises for over 12 years!

Around here, even the years they don't get raises, they still get COLA. Which may not be much but is more than most people get if their company isn't giving raises.

    :jaw:

Most of my raises have been changing jobs. I've gotten two anti-raises (everyone in the company took pay cuts) and reduced benefits such as no 401k contribution, paying more of insurance. And the unkindest cut of all - no more free coffee :hair::coffee:

Well, today was my Redneck South Jersey boy moment! I took my (*NOTE*) "Old cooler" out of the attic of my shed today along with a few others because were having some family and a few friends over on Sunday for Labor day. So.... I flipped open the lid to clean it and both hinges snapped off the lid! So, being in the Engineering field that I have been for the last 35 years and trying to come up with a "smart" solution to my dilemma, the first thing I should have done was to throw away this cooler and go get another one! Could I,... Noooooooo I had to fix this one..... so I tore my garage and shed apart looking for the right hinges, piano hinge I had was too big, barn hinges to big, :headbang: so after talking to God about my language and trying to figure out something about "sons" and "female dogs" I saw a break through.... o_O..... A piece of old cove base rubber! :D:tears::binoculars:! I knew this was it!!! So, after finding some 3/4 wood screws and a few Beers :drunk: I said to myself, "THIS WILL WORK" :dex::banana: So there you have it! A rubber hinge cooler! And it worked super! DSCN2624.JPG DSCN2625.JPG

Here it is! Finally got a pic of the boat used as a roof for covered entrance! At least it matches the roof color!

Looks like they had a spare and needed somewhere to keep it.

I'm thinking it's one of those how to beat the "building permit requirement" again!

I personally like it. Think I would have used the rear of the boat against the house though so the bow wouldn't have to be cut. But then again, maybe the front had damage and the best side was put to the road. Some down grade redneck ingenuity, but many of the diy things on the shows and Pinterest are old redneck designs.

And I am a teacher in Indiana for over 30 years. Last 9 years no raises. None in sight. Actually losing money due to insurance costs. Like all of you, we are making do with what we have.

That is exactly how it is mounted....stern towards the house, bow towards the street.
