Gum is the worst if you ask me. I like everything else about it (dries quick and burns alright), but splitting it is horrible :hair:

And it just about ALWAYS looks like that! I had some big gum rounds from my tree guy and I had to rent a splitter to handle them. Even the small rounds were impossible to split by hand. That tree even gave the splitter trouble. After all that, it's tough to stack too be aide the splits are so twisted and splintery

I'll never forget that load of gum, it was rough

Have you looked into a trailer and hitch for the focus? A small trailer and hitch are a lot less expensive than a new truck.

You are right. An atv and trailer really works nice. Then put a snow plow on the atv and that machine proves to be very helpful indeed.

I betcha you could find a good beater on CL. Doesn't have to be purrdy as long as it'll start every so often to haul wood. LOTS of old trucks around here under 2 grand. Plenty around 1 grand too

Got an entire tree of it from my family's farm, I css all of it myself. Splitting maul and wedge or hydraulics are the only way to go.

I have checked the CL around my area. I found a few good beaters but it's a matter of funds really. As for the hitch and trailer I suppose that's another alternative but I cut a lot in the woods too, I may love my car for it's fuel economy but it isn't a mud bogger.
