How do you humidify your home?

I have a cheap humidifier from WalMart. Just keep fresh filters in it and it works fine. Also, I vented the dryer into the utility room. When the humidity goes up after the snow is gone, I will redirect it outside. I recover the heat and the moisture that way. There is some concern about off gassing from certain materials, but this doesn't seem to be an issue for us. Just the two of us for now. When the son moves in, I'll have his dryer vented out. There will be two apartments in this house then.

Not an issue for us either, and it smells clean and fresh to me :)

Yep same here. One cold, and the machine kept my sinuses open all night. I think there are a lot of people that need the machine and wont break down and get tested.
Ive found if I set the moisture on high it will run out of water and dry me out if I sleep in. i'm better off on the next setting down

I learned a lesson recently the humidifier Wick in the machine is important.
I tried using last years Wick as it looked to be in pretty good shape.
Even though it was in good shape I sprayed some bleach on it to sterilize it.
Well the issue is the minerals from the water builds up in the Wicks.
This inhibits the water wicking up in it.
I noticed the machine not needing water and the humidity of the house was lower.
I changed filters and big difference as the new Super Wick filter made huge difference.
The old filter looked clean but was like petrified at the top of filter from the lime build up.
Over half the filter wasn't getting water .

My Humidifier uses a high performance wick thats like 280% higher performance than old type filters.

Important point if you use my type humidifier:
There are other filters that work in this machine
but you need to use the Super Wick version with the higher performance.
Too get the same humidifying effect.

Go on the web and shop around for replacement filters. I was able to find them for less than half of the price at the box stores.
