Best saw I’ve ever used for blowing out tree tops directly after felling. It’s a ripper with 3/8lp square ground chain. It’s light enough to easily run one handed all day which is a big plus for such tasks. I rarely use my 201 rear handle anymore. Probably sell it. I should mention though that my 2511p is also ported.

Well I’m not Kevin, but you could check out the dyno thread on OPE. I am sure that I remember Joe running one. There used to be a thread just for dyno numbers & not the derail but I haven’t seen it in awhile most info is now just in the dyno thread.

I have a top handle and the rear handle ported by Joe. Stout for the size. I bet Kevin’s getting pretty similar numbers out of his too. You really can’t go wrong having these little saws ported.

After seeing this thread and held one at my OE dealer, it has me reconsidering about both my 201's. They dont get a lot of use but i love the lightweight factor. Ported they must be on the same level as 201's, no?

You’ll still have a use for a muffler modded and timing advance 201. The 2511 punches above its size but still has 10cc to cover.

Nah it just sits on the shelf. I bet I only ran it a couple times this year. I usually skip right to a 50cc saw (261, 501p, or the doc Al ported 026). With the timing advance and muff mod it’s a nice little saw for sure. It just doesn’t fit my cutting preference.

I don’t know what other saw they compare to because of using different chain setups but they’re almost twice as fast as stock. If it took 20 seconds to make a cut, it would do it ported in 12-13

Other than dyno-ing before porting and then again after porting, the clock (or video) is the best for measuring increased power, right? And your vids always show the expected and phenomenal gains... just not how them sausages fit inside a cylinder head. :D

Im almost wondering that myself once I get the MS241.
As in I'd most likely use the 2511 or the 241. We shall see. The 201 will make a nice old man saw with the easy start and all.

Well is the 201 a rear or top handle? If you decide you want rid of it later I’m sure one of the tree guys up here would buy it and really wouldn’t matter top or back.

    ECHO Chain Saws Comparison

It’s down to these two. I like the idea of saving the initial cost over the rear handled Stihl MS201C-EM and getting one of these Echos and getting it ported. There’s been a few mentions lately of the 2511. I was leaning and still am towards the 361P. But open to either. I need to get both in my hand to make final decision.

Are there any features listed on the linked comparison that makes one that much different in the construction other than the obvious difference in cc’s?

Had that exam a few years ago, and probably next year when I hit 50... I had to go in for an upper and lower... insisted that the gastroenterologist take care of the upper first- didn’t need a mint after waking up so I guess she honored my request.

Well there's that. I haven't had the displeasure of the wazoo spelunking yet with the camera and whatnot. I hear the pre invasion clean out juice is pleasant.
