It's been a PITA to start since day one new out of the box, so I don't think it needs a carb rebuild. Doesn't have much mileage on it since I usually just grabbed a different saw since I didn't want to deal with the hassle.

Still a clam shell saw, if I were him if the rings don’t look stuck and it feels like enough it probably will run. I don’t have high faith in gauges they can fail slowly and you don’t even know it.

I’m sure this site needs something special done to load a video like the others but if it was easy I’d show a video of my personal 194t after it had some muffler work and a timing advance. I do the same stuff to the tree service saws from when they’re new and they’ve held up well so doesn’t see to be any down side of modding the 193/194 except a slightly louder exhaust.

If it were me, I'd buy the Echo in the size & style you like, get it ported by someone reputable & never look back. They make wicked fast little saws for way less money, & they last really well. I've run a few top handles & a lot of my climbing friends run them. Please keep in mind that my saw fleet is Stihl. The Echo saws impress me.

Being new to this site do we have any resident members who port saws? Or is there a list or old threads that have information on places to send saws out to get porting, modifications, etc.?

I recommend the Echo 2511P. Rear handle that weighs about 5.5 lbs. Eggshooterist and Barcroftb each have one.

I know it’s only 25cc, but they’re so nice for light work

Makita has a couple semi/pro construction candidates too but it’s tough to recommend a late model production saw from a company that’s halting their gas saw lineup.

Didn’t know the 2511 rear handle was available here, I would have added it to the list because even just a timing advance and muffler work makes them cut but he didn’t want a top handle. Personally not a big fan of the 355 I think it is. The direct competition to the 201 whatever that one is but maybe because I didn’t run it enough

I have an Echo 2511, really cool saw. But also have a Stihl ms200. The latter is a far, far stronger, as it should be. Every time I use the ms200, I am reminded how incredibly strong it is for its size. The 2511 is fine for limbing small stuff but the ms200 will buck much larger logs with ease. Mine is muffler modded. Ported would be even better.

I absolutely love my 2511 P. The top handle was great too.

I have two saws ported by Kevin, huskihl and I can say they run strong and he is an outstanding guy to deal with. He keeps you in the loop with pictures of his progress ect. I plan on having two more saws ported and Kevin will be doing those as well.

This how my Ported 2511 runs. As stated above, Kevin, aka huskihl ported this.

When ported and MM what do you guesstimate the power level to be Kevin?
