A few more misc pics from down on the lot. I have a bunch of the country side and I'll post them up also. Did a bit of wandering around while everything was still almost untouched.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

The last of the decent pics I snapped while I was out. Hope everyone enjoys the scenery as much as I did. Hopefully here soon I'll be getting some pics back up of my progress on the firewood [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Haven't gotten much done lately. Been down with a virus and it's been beating up lately. Went down to the lot this afternoon and got another load up to the house. I have managed to hang an old axe head and a old hatchet head I picked up a while back. Also prepped a second hatchet head to be hung and polished/sharped my axe carry with me while I'm felling. I'll get some pics of the work I've done on the hatchets and axes. I'll start with the before and after of the first hatchet[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

The second hatchet that I prepped to be hung. I tried to leave some of the patina on this one. I only wanted one "clean slate" hatchet which was the previous one. All my others still have their patina. This was my first one trying to achieve a polished patina.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I lost the pics of this axe when it was first found. My father actually found it in one of his customers yards buried underneath some Camilla bushes. He was tearing them out of the ground and when he was taking the dirt back in the holes he hit this. He asked the home owners if they wanted it and they said to toss it in recycle so he kept it to be restored. It will see many more splits now. [IMG][IMG]

From my reading in the past they are just a simple cut out designed to pull nails while roofing or framing during new construction. These will never see any nails but I've often thought about sharpening the cut out on a hatchet to cut cord or help strike a ferro rod while out camping. I think I'd have to do it with Dremel or a small file

It’s 10 acres and today was my turn. We had some snow and heavy wind last week so there was plenty of wood to sink my new ms261 into. Good day. Plus it’s friday.

CHeath Man I wish I had some good trails around my area that weren't paved. I have a bike I've been working on that I am going to get out this coming spring. Hope you had the truck with you to grab the wood from the trails. Don't think I'd enjoy back packing all my equipment in on my bike haha.

HolsatiaRedneck glad you enjoyed the pics of the countryside. My mother seems to be almost back to her normal self now and has been a trooper through all her treatments. I appreciate the thought on the subject. I got about 1/2 cord split and stacked in between the snows and before I got sick. At least did manage to get some axes hung and taken care of while I was down. Finally feeling back about myself again so time to get the wood processes back going. I have got to get some firewood racks built soon here at the house to hold and season wood. Looking to build something that will hold about 2 cords or maybe 2 racks that will hold a cord a piece.

Yes I can take some wood there if needed. Lots of ash and cherry. If not it will just lay there so I try to scoop it up.

Woodwhore those noodles have come in handy for many things around the house. I mostly use them to start the charcoal when I'm grilling and to start the chiminea to stay warm while I'm grilling. I've also used some to soak up some oil from a tractor when I ran out of cat litter in the shop. They are better suited for grilling though haha.

Woodwidow my birthday is June 25th but I sure do appreciate the thought though. Is my birthday date on my profile wrong? Still at work now but I can check it when I get off.

crzybowhntr yes sir that is one of the saws I had out that day and I have recently gotten a 20" Oregon Pro-lite for it to help balance it out a little bit. Love the saw but it sure gets finicky when it's hot but I've learned the hot start over time.

It popped up on the Forum front page under birthdays today. I guess you will get two celebrations this year.

I messaged an admin last night to have it corrected. It was indeed Jan 25th instead of June 25th.

Got a decent bit of hickory and a little white oak split up in the last hour of daylight today. Went out walking my dog through the woods looking for sheds and ended up finding my cord of wood and some of the rounds that washed away when the flood came through. Also found most of my missing pallets and tarps too. It was .8mi away according to the GPS from where it was originally sitting. Going to take the truck and trailer and try to make it down the sewer line to get to it. That way it won't be but around a 10yrd walk to load it. Not totally sure if all of the cord is still there or not but hoping to recover at least half of it. Be good to get my rounds back also. I will post a couple pics of where the wood is laying now and also what I got done this evening. I put my iso core along side of where I stacked what I split this evening for a size reference.
