The wife accidentally broke my Hitachi 12" Compound Miter Saw the other day, cutting something she shouldn't in a way she shouldn't have... but, she bought me a new one! This one is the sliding version! I suspect I can fix the other one easily enough, but now I don't have to worry about it being out of service while I wait for parts. We really need one at the house and one at the shop, anyway, so it's all good.
New Dolmar PS-420, not oiling great will try turning up flow adjuster currently set to medium with 15" bar. Any one else had this issue with Dolmar
Many of the newer saws can be stingy on oil per environmental compliance. I turn everything up to highest setting no matter the bar size. Better to have a little too much than not enough IMO. Dolmars have a great reputation from all I've seen. No personal experience to call on.
My system has been to dump wood by the front of the house next to the driveway and split in the driveway under the shade of the maple tree. The driveway makes for easy cleanup. I throw splits in a pile and eventually ferry them about 100 yards to the racks in the backyard. By wheelbarrow. Thru a gate that I generally have to open and close because the dog will run out. As of today no more! Picked up an older craftsman 18hp garden tractor with dump cart, plow, wheel weights, and counterweight rod on the rear where you can slide weight plates on. Picked it up for $550 off of craigslist. The mower actually works well but I already have a zero turn for that. It starts right up but takes about 45 seconds to settle down. The guy is moving 8 states away so he's selling it.
Another hookaroon arrived this morning. Got the curved beak this time. Handle has some kind of grit where its painted orange. Dixie Industries.
I have not bought a thing since the skidding winch......sad to watch this thread and all of the good stuff people are getting.Except premix fuel, I find that to be overkill as I have always mixed my own with ethanol free. Kudos if you want to pay for it, but damm its expensive.
It took me about 3 hours with a wire brush and some linseed oil.... I really thought it 'made in China' piece of chit when I picked it up, ya never know what you'll find at yard sale-garage sale.
I was given a can of XP fuel the other day as a Thanks for helping cut up a big maple. I have been running the canned fuel a bit in my saws. The expense hasn't bothered me yet, but I haven't been doing a ton of cutting either. Weedwhip got regular mix for the two tankfuls I ran through it yesterday. Sure is a thirsty bugger for only being 25cc.
