Cripes, I never knew I should be using that stuff. All I have ever used was pump gas! Corn free, of course; but no stabilizer added and mixed with whatever brand of 2-stroke oil I have on hand (different brands and decades old)
I use 89 octane pump gas with ethanol. Husqvarna or Stihl 2 stroke. Been doing this for years with no issues yet.
Used to be that way here too but lately there are a few places within 30 minutes of home. There is a store close to the lake beside a boat dealership that has 3 dedicated pumps of 90 REC. I get mine there just because I feel like they sell more of it and it might be fresher.
Im lucky. The E free fuel in my area is 6 miles from one and 7 the other. The 7 mile station is a top tier fuel station and on a very busy 5 lane road. That's where all my rec fuel comes from.
There is a station about 6 miles from me that has a pump off to the side away from the other pumps. I never see anyone using it when I pass by so I don't bother. I would rather drive 20 minutes to the boat place. During mowing season I get 10 gallons at a time and it lasts me a month or 2 depending on how fast it grows.
This marathon I use has two rec fuel hoses in the main pump row. Super busy place. Previously I was buying it from a local Wesco.
Came across these gourds grown along the barn fence line. Do t think i have seen them in the wild still on vine. Ideas on what they are?
I have thought about buying racing gas but I haven't looked into where it is sold near me. There is no ethanol free gas at the pumps here. I use pump gas during the OPE season and switch to gallon cans of pre mix for the rest of the year. The pump gas gets poured into the quads at around 4 weeks. What does a 5gal can of race gas cost?
You can buy a 5 gallon pail of non ethanol here for around 100 bucks for the VP 4 cycle stuff. Race fuel is probably right around the same price but the higher octane in race gas will not help performance wise. Without the compression to support it you will not gain anything , it will actually hurt performance. We have no non ethanol pump gas here either so I pay the price and buy it by the pail without oil for 2 stroke stuff and mix myself.
Because of snowmobilers, it seems that every station around here has the option for ethanol free gas....but it the high octane stuff. I did find one station that had ethanol free but at regular octane (87?) for 10 cents more a gallon than the ethanol regular! Bad part was that it was almost an hour away.....good thing was that my mpg consistently improved at least 10%-15%!!!! However, that 10 cent difference per gallon difference has passed years ago. I still use it for small engines though. Stupid corn, anyway!
