I am always in awe around Lake Superior. I love it, in every season.

    Trivia facts:
The Great Lakes hold approximately 21% of the world's surface freshwater and 84% of North America's surface freshwater. This amounts to about 6 quadrillion gallons of water, enough to cover the lower 48 United States to a depth of nearly 10 feet.

Stopped at my local garage and saw this 4x4 AMC Eagle. Haven't seen one of these in years. 20251030_152416.jpg

View from the top of a hill on a power line cut (nature preserve easement-not trespassing ) :)
It’s amazing how fast the leaves change and then disappear completely this time of year.

No matter how far you walk into the woods around here, you’ll always find remnants of past civilization. This was probably grassland for sheep back in the 19th century. I can’t imagine this ever being farmed. Rocky, thin acidic soil that today supports a niche ecosystem with the trees being mostly a mix of scarlet oak, chinquapin oak, chestnut oak, white and pitch pine, sassafras and a few black gum. The forest floor is covered in large swaths with wild blueberry bushes.

In high school the local power lines were always a fun spot to beat the snot out of our vehicles!
