Typical roadside tree butchery..... We lived on a dead end road with only 4 houses and no overhead lines, yet the morons from the county road department came through with one of those excavator mounted mutilators and totally shredded everything for about 50 feet off the pavement, they went up into the trees 30 feet and ripped them to bits as well, it took one lazy turd about an hour to make a hideous mess that would take 20 years to recover..... I'm not a "tree hugger" but that kind of pointless destruction really grinds my gears!
Of course, they do it darn near everywhere. This particular carve up displaced easily 30+ hummingbirds that frequent this prior beauty of a mimosa. The canopy would seem alive as the nectar seeking wonders would hover from flower to flower. Many will have to look elsewhere now.
West Texas storm chaser Laura Rowe captured the picture of a lifetime, fantastic shot of a mature supercell thunderstorm, illuminated at varying heights from the setting sun.
