Years ago when I worked as a welder/machinist at a small shipyard building yachts there was a co-worker who was having trouble filing his saws. He told me he took three saws with him into the woods because "it took an hour to file a chain". I was like "it should only take you a few minutes to file a saw". he knew nothing about rakers or anything, so I told him to bring in his saw and that I would show him how to file it. And I did, and told him to "hold on with both hands".

He liked how it cut, but the thing was three years later my wife and I are going through the local fair here and who is the fair's forestry expert...the same guy that could not file a saw three years before!! Granted he knows more than the people he is teaching, but it is too bad that the people that really know what they are doing are so busy doing it that they cannot get out and help those who really want to learn.
