What other uls have you had. Nice looking Dac. I started flying uls in 1988 in an N3-Pup.

    Hey Stinny
I have a friend who is just about finished building an ultralight similar (or maybe it is the same) as the N3-Pup. I been waiting for him to get it finished so we can go for a flight.

My first ultralight I had was called the Atlas. It was a kit I built produced by Birdman enterprises out of Alberta. The Atlas was an early Quicksilver clone.
I got the Atlas around 1979-80, it was super easy to fly but it sure didn't fly very fast, it made landing in and out of small field very easy and safe, but in big air I often found myself flying backwards at times.

I had the Dac for a while. I bought the Dac from a friend on a whim because it was the first ultralight I fell in love as when I was a teenager, but it was pricier that the Atlas and there were no Dac dealers around me so I got the Atlas instead. Later that friend found a used Dac and kept it for a few years, but he never flew it. He knew I had some ultralight experience and let me take if for a few flights. Years later he offered it to me at a price I couldn't refuse, but because I didn't have a hanger to keep it in it was kind of an inconvenient ultralight to fly, so I ended up selling it after a couple years, that's when I bought the trike you may have seen in that video link in my post you quoted. The trike's biggest feature is it's portability. The wings basically fold up like a hang glider, and the trike undercarriage easily fits in the back of a pick up or with a little more folding of the wheels it could be stuffed into the back of a van. I plan to get another trike one day.

So are you still flying your your pup? Have you flown any other aircraft?

No, not flying anymore since 2003. 1988, I started with the Pup which I flew for around 70 hrs. Loved that Global 4 stroke… had no power, but it sounded like an ole Harley. It was a nice flyer too. Had it on skis one winter. Lots of fun. Got out of flying for 6-7 years. Bought a Hytek Hurricane w/503 & ballistic chute. Had a ball with it for about 65 hrs, until it seized on me (thankfully) at about 1500' over my backyard strip. A friend had a RANS S-12 and we'd fly all over with that. Got into powered parachutes and started a flight school to train folks with the same S-12 guy. In our 3rd year, we decided to train folks in fixed-wing as well and had worked our way up to instructor and examiner ratings. 2001. It all came to a hard stop on 911. When everything shut down after the attack on the twin towers, our biz just stopped. We opted to get out while we could pay off all loans and vendors, and we did. 2003, a friend was selling a single seat chute and I bought it. Only flew it for a few months and a guy wanted it so I sold it.

Got down to Sun N Fun a few times in it's hay days late 1980s and 90s. Good stuff. Some Cessna time in there too. Got to where I was flying solo, but certified planes just never did it for me. Maybe 300 plus hrs in fixed wing ul and 500-600 hrs in chutes.
I'm good with flying now. Did a lot of it, it was fun but, haven't missed it in over 10 years now…

If your buddy is building a 2 seat Pup, that's a nice plane.

Awesome pictures... and beautiful planes. I have been into RC for quite a while, but have only lightly dabbled in RC aircraft. I would like to get back into it in a sense, just don't know if I have the spare time to do it. I might buy an electric park flyer or something to satisfy my interests, but would love to find a larger gas powered plane some time down the road.
