For the gold chassis rig? Probably 7- 8 hours +/-. Some of that time was spent breaking in the ball differential with a drill. That took an hour or so.
Well, it's as far as it can go until the powerplant is back in stock, at which time I'll order it and the two servos I'll need for steering and throttle / brake operation. Too cold to paint the body currently.
On to this rig now. Much more involved build. The originals were chain driven 4 wheel drive. The re-release version has optional belt drive as well as the original chain drive. I'll be building it with the belt. Lots of parts to assemble.
There is a lot going on here. I didn't show the differential guts when building them. They are just conventional spider gear, open diffs. Nothing fancy.
This car will get ran a litte, on "clean" grassy areas, but not beat up. There is to much going on to have to repair if I get too rambunctious with it.
I love these vintage style Kyosho rigs but they are complex. They were premium race cars back when the originals were released.
