Today and tomorrow I have to work with Darren on another state project. I will be felling, cottonwoods mostly as I understand. Supposed to be another guy there to break em down for Darren to move with his Skid-steer. I haven’t laid eyes on the project this time either but didn’t have to bid it. Just getting paid by the hour. Don’t sound like there’s any firewood to be had. Should be an enjoyable couple days of good honest hard work with chainsaw in hand. I’ll try to get some pictures

Is it bring your own saw or might you get stuck, dare i say, using a Stihl?

Always a bonus getting paid to play with chainsaws! :saw:

I am whipped! Forgot to try and count how many big trees I dropped, but lugging bigger saws around for 7 hours straight is almost more than this hoarder can handle. Started with the 181 with 36” bar and the first 2 trees were 2 of the 3 biggest I did today and the second one really dulled the fresh chain but I managed a couple more with it. Finally decided to go put a sharp chain on and discovered the adjuster screw was gone. It also wasn’t really running properly, ( air leak or carb issues) . So I put the 36” on the 372 and ran it the rest of the day. 181 will stay home tomorrow. Not sure if there’s any more that will require the 36”, I’d like to be able to run a 32” or better yet the 28” just to save a little weight. Went through over a gallon of mix which I’m not sure if I have ever done that in one day before
I guess I only took 2 pictures of my work and one of an “ ugly stump” that was in the parking area. (I will post that picture in that thread also F2DD5672-DAB0-4B84-8CB2-BB1F041F5329.jpeg 2nd tree of the day and the biggest

Yep, that’s a pretty ugly stump with that Hoosky sitting on it …:wacky:

Glad you had a safe day cutting.

When I haul my 661 with the 36” bar on it around for a day it makes me tired also. :handshake:

    Nebraska game and parks commission.
state wildlife management area, open to hunting and such. Foot traffic only.
Had a bird hunter and his dog come by yesterday, he was pretty upset, said I’d just cut down his favorite tree that he had hunted from for a long time.
Clearing a swath 150 feet from the river bank. I guess creating a fire break. Had to treat stumps of any live stuff we cut. And then I guess at some point in the future they will burn the cleared area. In my opinion it’s not the best use of my tax $$$$. But I’m just a guy getting paid by the hour to run a chainsaw.

No pictures today but it did happen. I did probably 12-15 cottonwoods plu some small ash and Russian olive. Have to cut the stump as low as possible, so dropping the trees at comfortable height and then cutting the stumps off. Stump cutting is kinda hard on sharp chains. Job is not done yet, gonna see what this storm does and go back for at least another day when we can get back in

Probably with Tordon RTU or something similar to prevent them from growing back.

Don’t remember the name of the product, but yes to prevent regrowth of woody plants and safe to use near water.
