    A joke for everyone...

Two old ladies were outside their nursing home having a smoke, when it started to rain. One of the ladies pulled out a condom, cut off the end, put it over her cigarette, and continued smoking.

    Lady 1: What's that?

    Lady 2: A condom.

Lady 1: Where'd you get it?

Lady 2: You can get them at any drugstore.

The next day, the first lady hobbled into the local drugstore and announced to the pharmacist that she wanted to buy a package of condoms. The guy looked at her kind of strangely (she was, after all, in her 80s), but politely asked what brand she preferred.

"Doesn't matter," she replied, "as long as it fits a Camel."

YOU/SHE have to want to quit. I smoked at least a pack a day for longer than I care to admit. One day after my infant son had more ear infections then I wanted to deal with I decided it was time for ME. It wasn't easy, and there are days/times that I could walk back to that side of the tracks, but I can't stand the smell anymore and after watching my father go through multiple strokes and cancer I really don't have any interest.

Well she celebrated her one year anniversary for quitting on Sunday. She had saved the last butt and threw it away with two year old grand daughter. Her grand kids were her motivation. Im really proud of her.

Seriously Brad that’s HUGE. From experience, it’s such a feeling of freedom getting that monkey off your back. I’m happy that she pulled through (and didn’t kill you in the process)

I quit in 2005. One of the hardest things I've ever done but I'm so glad I did it.

I need to quit. I’m down to under a pack a day, coming from a soaring high of 3 packs a day after my dad committed suicide in Nov of ‘19. Progress I guess, but kicking it altogether is my goal. Will be tough tho as Fire Flake smokes and thoroughly enjoys doing so…

Chantix works but you need to want to quit in order to do so. It’s not a miracle drug. And it’s free through most insurances.

Hum know what you are going through. I was the one quit 10 years ago. Chaz still smokes. One thing that helped me, ok two things. One, please smoke outside. Two, keep the cigarettes out of site. I see the cigarettes and I am tempted to take one. I thank Chaz all the time as without his support, I don't know if I could have done it.

What's a pack of cigs cost these days? I know its been expensive for some time now already, but it really has to be getting downright burdensome by now?!

Congratulations to her! Please tell her I said so.

    Quit ASAP guys and gals.
I smoked from 17-37. Off and on, up and down from 1/2 pack to 1-1/2 packs on weekends of good times with friends. Tried many, many times, and just kept trying. Cold Turkey. Decided enough was enough when I looked at my two little ones inside barely walking around and playing. Knew they needed me for as long as I could give them. And I needed them. Done!

17 years 6 months gone by now

At the risk of sounding corny, remember you’re a spiritual being having a human experience. You’re bigger than your worldly vices. The hardest part is getting started (well, stopped, but you know what I mean) As far as your significant other goes, your commitment to staying stopped won’t be contingent on what other people around you do. My wife still smokes. She does her thing outside and it no longer bothers me, no matter how bad a day I have, or how stressed out I find myself. I reached a point (and really it was early on shortly after I quit) where I really saw with clear eyes the habit for what it was, and it not only lost its appeal, it became almost appalling. The smell, the nasty ash trays, the lost time spent sneaking out for yet another fix, etc. We grossly overlook the amount of time wasted during the course of the day spent getting another drag. You’ll see what I mean when you get there. :handshake:

    I can't even imagine 3 packs/day! :startled:
OH MY! I just did the math on that...its $13,140/year!!! :faint:
At least in these parts, that's a mortgage payment on a pretty nice place!
