    Khoresht Beh with venison.

Wife made a lovely Persian stew with home-grown quince and venison meat. It is a lovely and complex and highly unexpected flavor for a traditional American like me. All I can say is mmmmmmmm....

My wife has totally immersed herself in living in a traditional / off-the-grid lifestyle. I have been shooting 1-2 deer each year for my red meat (she doesn't eat red meat). However, she is very curious about local foods. We eat local deer meat, quince, paw-paw, blackberrry, blue berry, honey, etc. Anyways, she found a Persian recipe for quince stew. We substituted local deer venison and BAM!, we had a lovely, local dish. Needless to say, she was the driving force behind us getting a wood-burning stove to limit our burning of fossil fuel heating oil. All together, I love her.
